(Staff photo.) Called Paterson Milestone 1,000 See Kennedy High Dedicated Paterson The immense John F. Kennedy High School was dedicated yesterday at ceremonies attended by an estimated 1,000 persons. The $7-million school, at Totowa and Preakness Avenues in Westside Park, was called a milestone in the City's history. "This is truly the most sig. nificant building erected in the City of Paterson in our generation," Mayor Frank X.

Graves Jr. said. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Michael Gioia predicted the school in addition to being the City's educational center. would become its cultural center.

Envisioning questions about the size of its library, shops, and some classrooms, Dr. Gioia commented: "When you build a school, you don't build it for yesterday you build it for tomorrow." He explained it will be fitted out with equipment and devices which will become everyday necessities for education in the next 50 years. Mayor Graves said the sig. nificance of the new school is that when classes begin September 8, they will mark the first time in a generation the City's public high school students will be getting fulltime education instead of split sessions. The ceremonies, preceded by a concert by the bands of Eastside and Central High Schools, brought out representatives of the City ministration, school officials, clergymen and contingents from the Police and Fire Departments.

Gov- By BART SOTNICK (Staff Writer) ernor Richard J. Hughes, who was to be a guest speaker, did not appear. than the attendance of dignitaries. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Joseph R.

Brestel of St. George R. C. Church, one of the main speakers at the ceremony, urged the City's parents to try to match the newness of the high school with the oldness of home training and discipline. He commented: "So many are ready to blame the schools and education for the dropouts," and added it is often the fault of the individualed the school will open with 2,800 students in the fall, and has a capacity of 3,500 students without expansion.

He remarked there are 102 classrooms in the school, and its cafeteria the largest in the City. The Mayor's comment that the gymnasium was as big as the Paterson Armory drew an undercurrent of "ohs" from the audience.
