Harper has Installed for his own researc- and lor use in connection with the sanitarium a large amount of apparatus lcr the general practice, a dark-field ilium.nator being one of the devices recently installed. Above Is a cut of the new sanitarium from a photograph taken as the building was being completed. It Is a very, handsome structure, two stories in heignt, of ornamental brick, and was built according to iaeas of Dr. Harper himseli for a firstclass sanitarium, the plans having been by Architect Jos. F. Leitner and the contractor having been Mr.

J. D. Brantley. The plant represents an investment of something like $15,000 fully equipped and Dr. Harper Is due the credit for having established here an up-to-date sanitarium, the of v.

A representative of this paper called at the office of Dr. Harper a few days ago and was delighted with the evmences of tae best in equipment and the very sanitary appearance of every thing in connection with the institu tion, which bids lair tovbe very popular and useful in this city.

It is impossible for a layman to speak of and describe many things in connection with the sanitarium that would appeal to the profession and his 'patient. The place (is most attractive and home-like in appearance and im general environment; as one visitor casually remarked, upon in-inspecting the premises, "it would be a pleasure to get sick and be here." On the west side of the building, second floor, is a well protected portico from which patients may find sufficent interest in the street below not to be annoyed by the usual traffic on a busy city thoroughfare. -The public and the profession generally, both In and out of the city, are cordially Vinvited by Dr. Harper to call and- inspect the sanatariunu CONGRESS OF REFRIGERATION. It will enable threm to meet experts from many foreign countries, and probably many representa tives of foreign governments. It will enable the refrigerating engi neers and experts in this country to meet men engaged in similar pursuits in other countries, and learn from them In what way "many of the' ordi nary or extraordinary difficulties In the construction and operation of refrigerating' plants are met or over come in other lands. It will offer op portunity to exchange experiences with those who have studied ref rige rating problems from standponits somewhat different from those which obtain in America, and learn of the results of investigations made by the scientists of the old world.

It Is pos sible to learn more from such associa tion, because the intellect is sharpen ed by the unusual conditions, and the high expectations aroused. The burden of responsibility for suitably entertaining the refrigerating experts of the world is no light one, However, so many -departments of commerce and industry are' dlrectlv or indirectly interested in the science and practical application, In one form or another, of artificial refrigeration that assistance 'from most, if not all branches of Industry may be The educational value suoh an international convention will anneal to many.
