LET'S TALK Things to remember to forget By REV. W. The findings may be of particular importance because many known carcinogens are also mutagenic, scientists from the Department of National Health and Welfares Health Protection Branch said Tuesday. Although saccharin itself did not cause mutations, concentrated mixtures of impurities extracted from it were mutagenic in the Ames test.

Assistant Deputy Health Minister Dr. Alec Morrison explained that government researchers, using a method developed by Californian Dr. Bruce Ames, found the impurities in each test sample of saccharin and in commercial saccharin. We dont know what the substance is, but it is one of the first clues weve had in trying to pinpoint a mutagenetic substance, he said. Using the Ames method we found that an impurity, taken from the saccharin, caused a impurities in it.

Alaskans earn highest per capita income in the United States as is The Jet Star blasts off Will Davis complained once too often about forgetting something. Will is the president of a small bank, an extremely well-read and articulate person. I tried to tell him that his forgetting might be a blessing. Will, you would not be in this job if you did not have the ability to forget many things." He challenged me. Over a long lunch, we put together this list.

I am sure that there isnt an original idea in it, but it is an assortment of truths about life. Many of us tend to forget the Obvious from time to time and if you want to get ahead, here are a few things, Will agreed, we all would be better off to forget: Forget snipping and criticism. No one who tries to do anything worthwhile escapes obstacles and objections. First, decide where you are going, take a realistic view and do whatever is best to get by the roadblocks. When you.

know what your goal is and you have charted your course, keep the eye on the goal, not the obstacles. Forget destructive criticism. There are people who will be quick to tell you what cannot be done. Listen to the persons who tell you how something may be done better. Forget the souls who have a thousand reasons, why it cannot be done.

Forget injustice. You will be handed more than one raw deal. The human reaction is to punish those who have wronged you but it is an extravagant luxury to try and even old scores. Time does a far better job on taking care of those persons who give pam, more than you can ever accomplish. Forget the smallness of people.

People are the greatest things on earth, but sometimes they can make life pretty miserable for others. It is very iquch like trying to listen to good music in a noisy apartment Sometimes, some sounds like neighbors, have to be tuned out. Forget the small and the annoying sounds some persons make. Forget to be sorry for yourself. Is it that the whole world is against you or are you against the whole world? If the whole world is against you, it is time to stop feeling sorry for yourself and take a personal inventory.

Get in step the way things are and you will go a lot faster and further. Forget the clock. It is not the hours we put in that matters, it is what we do with our time that is important. Concentrate on doing more things and more important things. The clock is for clock-watchers, not for persons who want to achieve, excel and to be successful.

Forget the failures. This may be the toughest one of all. Failure leaves scars. Look at your failures, put them through a wringer and after you have learned from them, throw them aside because if you dont, they will clog up the machinery of your thinking. Make new plans and dont let your failures be dead weight.

Throw away your rule bode, including this list. Do not squelch your life by living between stone walls. You cannot fly an airplane and read a book on celestial navigation at the same time. Get tiie ground rules in your mind and find your one star. Let your personality expand and grow.

This is far better advice than any list of rules a minister can give you through a newspaper, book or from a pulpit. The Jet Star is 69 tons of metal downhill twists and turns. Although most other Americans fared less well than those in Alaska and Michigan, incomes in only five states Hawaii, Montana, Nebraska, and North and South Dakota failed to keep pace with inflation. These developments were revealed in the Commerce Departments 1976 report on per capita income for the 50 states and the District of Columbia, released Tuesday. Commerce said per capita income for all Americans was $6,441 last year compared with $5,903 in 1975. The national average increase was 9.1 per cent.

It said 27 states had gains exceeding the national average percentage, but only 18 had average per capita incomes higher than average. Of the 18, Alaska and the District of Columbia which is not a state were in an elite class. Alaskas per capita income of $10,178 was $3,737 higher than the national average. The Alaska work force is dominated by highly paid construction workers, whose families often are located in other states. them with an iron rod, thereby mating the first set of dunb bells.

The District of Columbia, whose major employer is the federal government, had per capita income of $8,648 or $2,207 higher than the nations average. The next highest-ranking state, Illinois, had income of $7,432 or $991 above average. Although Michigans per capita income of $6,994 ranked only 10th, the gain of 13.4 per cent over 1975 was the biggest in the nation. The $553 increase was attributed largely to the rehiring of auto workers laid off in the recession. Other states with favorable gains included Maine, 12.5 per cent, and Mississippi, 12.2 per cent.

Mississippi, however, ranked last in terms of per capita income: $4,575 or $1,866 below average. Commerce said states with manufacturing and service industries showed the biggest income gains last year. Agricultural states had the smallest increases overall and the only losses North and South Dakota. On a regional basis, the highest per capita incomes were concentrated in the Northeast and Far West which includes Alaska generally were in the Southeast. State 1976 1975 Pet.

In a 1962 interview with UPI Hollywood Correspondent Vernon Scott, she summed up her professional approach with one sentence: I try at all times to look and behave like a movie star. In her eyes, the younger crop of actresses did not. A lot of the new ones want to be stars before they even get here, she said in a 1960 interview with UPI. They read their name in the papers about how theyve been suggested for such and such a part and they think theyve got it. Then when they dont get the role, they slash their wrists or take sleeping pills.

Theres a humility thats missing. Actors dont have to do anything for themselves anymore. Miss Crawford was no stranger to controversy on or off camera. Early in her career, she enraged church groups and paved the way for film Ssarship by dancing the Charleston on a table top in her slip Jor the silent flapper flick called Dancing Daughf-ers.
