Archibald- Henderson left for Asheville yesterday- after spending several weeks at the Oceanic Hotel. Dr. Henderson is professor- of mathematics at the University of North' Carolina, but is more widely known an, author, having written a biogi'aphy of Bernard Shaw and several books On modern drama. The Texas Quartete, which recently appeared at Lumina and which gave such universal satisfaction, has been given another week's engagement at that popular resort, beginning next Monday. The quartette is a splendid one and was heard with much pleasure upon recent appearance at the beach.

Capt. D. T. Cronly, who has been at the beach for the past week, left last nigh tfor Hot Springs, where he will attend the annual meeting of the National Fertilizer Association-. The captain has been seeing things at the beach, blue, green and other colors, and was reluctant to leave.

S. GRIMES At "New Douglas," the summer home of Mrs. Rebecca M. Swann in Harnett county, a simple but pretty marriage was solemnized Wednesday morning at 11:30 o'clock when Mrs. Anna Reston Pettway, her daughter, became the bride of Mr.

Gassaway Sellman Grimes, formerly of Virginia, now of Wilmington. Rev. W. E. Cox, rector of St.

John's Episcopal church, was the officiating minister, and the bride was given away by her cousin, Mr. Joseph D. Smith. The broad porch of the Swann home was beautifully decorated with ferns, bamboos and other decorations and it was here the vows were said. The wedding was attended by a number'of relatives and friends front Wilmington and elsewhere.

There were, many beautiful presents including many, from the employes of the general offices of the Atlantic Coast Line in which both the bride and groom have been 'employed. Amidst the throwing of rice and with the best wishes of those present Mr. Mrs. Grimes, accompanied by drove to Swann's station take the train for Mt. Airy.

Mr. and Mrs. P. N. Frick, and children have returned to Wilmington after spending two weeks at the Hanover Seaside Club.

The" Seashore Hotel is crowded with week-end guests who have come tb enjoy the sea breezes. The popular orchestra there will give a concert today, as is their usual Sunday custom.
