Upheaval hits Humane Society Compiled by LORI STEED Record-Eagle staff writer A major reorganization took place at the recent general meeting of the Cherryland Humane Society. The meeting was called to order with 25 members and interested citizens present; seven new board members were elected in an unprecedented change of election time elections are traditionally held in January, but members decided to elect a new board now to get the Society in motion. Larry Jones, Anne Melichar, Pat Matthews, Sandra Whiting, Rhoda Hitter, Jesse Karb, and Bill Orr are the new board members.

Several changes were also made in the group's by-laws, resulting in the deletion of some old committees and establishment of some new ones. The Society needs members interested in working on legislative, education, fundraising, newsletter, and public relations committees. Anyone with experience in these areas, or who wants to learn by doing, is welcome to join the group. For information and committee chairmen's names, contact Penny at the shelter. Dance scheduled All senior citizens who remember dancing as it was when live musicians played waltzes and foxtrots, and dance floors were ballroom not postage- stamp-sized, are invited to the first dance of the season at the Senior Center.

Adoption week Nov. 19-27 is National Adoption Week, and members of the area Council on Adoptible Children would like all persons interested in adoption to know about their organization. The group's goals include promotion and education on adoption; help for adoptive parents and children; help for those who would like to adopt, and dissemination of information to anyone interested in adoption.
