D. (NNPA) Dan Williams, 38-year-old disbarred Jackson, lawyer, pleaded not guilty last Friday to of first degree murder and assault. A district of Columbia grand Jury last Monday returned an indict ment charging him with murder In the first degree in two cases. Williams fatally shot Policeman Hubert W. Estes, of the First Precinct, and Ray E.

Davenport, clerk Tor the Committee on Admissions and Grievances of the District Bar Association. Wounded were George W. Daze 11, secretary of the commit and Cecil A. Clalg, a building at he Municipal Court build lng. Although he had been disbarred from practicing law in Mississippi aecause of alleged misconduct in a divorce case, Williams came here and applied for admission to the Oistrict ot Columbia bar.

The committee learned of his disbarment and recommended rejection of his application. Williams went to the committee offices in the Municipal Court building and demanded refund of his application fee of $125. When it was refused, he became enraged, witnesses said. 'He shot DaTzell and Davenport in the Municipal Court building and then fled to the offices of Cobb Howard and Hayes, where he asked to see Perry Howard, Republican national committeeman for Mississippi.
