Kirk Price, 37, of Urbana, died the day after a rear wheel from a Linn County Conservation dump truck came off and struck his car. Initially, Price appeared uninjured from the accident, which triggered the air bags in his 1995 Honda. Price received first aid from the Palo Fire Department at the scene of the accident but refused to go to the hospital, Linn County Risk Manager Norm Popenhagen said at the time of the accident.

Shortly after the 10 a.m. aceident, Price was taken by ambulance from his mother's home to St. Luke's Hospital where he was found to be in critical condition. Price was airlifted to University Hospitals, where he died the next day of a brain aneurysm. Attorney Hugh Albrecht of Cedar Rapids said, "We believe there was a causal relationship between the accident and Mr.

Price's death." The driver of the dump truck was not named a defendant in the lawsuit filed recently in Linn County District Court. "No lawsuit has been filed against the manufacturer of the automobile at this time," said Albrecht of the Tom Riley Law Firm. He declined to say whether one could be expected. Popenhagen said the wheel came off the truck when one or more of the lug nuts failed. The driver of the truck was doing trail maintenance when the accident happened.

Linn County Attorney Harold Denton said Monday he had not yet seen the lawsuit and was unable to comment on it. The program will be produced from the KGAN TV (Channel 2) studio in Cedar Rapids, and its anchor will be Tiffany O'Donnell, who anchors the 6 and 10 p.m. news on KGAN, a CBS affiliate.

The program will draw from news gathered by KGAN staff in Eastern Iowa as well as staff from the Fox-affiliate KDSMTV in Des Moines. The two Fox affiliates will share that newscast's state coverage but will have opportunities for separate regional or local coverage, said Joe Denk, general manager of KGAN and Fox 28 and 40. The 9 p.m. newscasts are based on an alliance between Second Generation Television, which owns and Sinclair Broadcast Group, which owns KGAN and KDSM. Both Fox affiliates can program 9 p.m. newscasts because prime-time programming on Fox ends at 9 p.m.

Fox audiences are generally younger than the audiences of other networks. Pacing on "Fox News at Nine" is designed with that in mind, Denk said. "It moves a little bit quicker," he said.
