LIZA CHAPMAN (Janet Matthews). Although she plays the part of an unmarried career girl in the show, Liza Chapman is the happy wife of concert pianist Andrew Heath, and the mother of three chil-dren. She lives with her family in Connecticut.

After graduation from Yale Drama School she played in Equity Library Productions in New York with Peter Falk. She visited the Far East and appeared there in a Chinese language production, using the centuries-old acting style. She played in the New York Shakespeare production of Antony and Cleopatra and several off-Broadway shows. This is her first continuing TV role. JACQUELINE COURTNEY (Alice Matthews).

Jacquie, as she likes to be called, started her theatrical career when her parents took her to dancing school at the age of four. The New Jersey-born actress then did commercials and finally TV shows. She was one of the title stars in NBC-TV's Our Five Daughters serial and has appeared on The Doctors, Secret Storm, Jackie Gleason Show and Route 66. She also made several films for the U.S. Army, and has done summer stock.

VIRGINIA DWYER (Mary Matthews). Virginia Dwyer went to several colleges but never did finish. She headed for Chicago, then a major radio center, and started her unbroken career, breaking off her education in her college sophomore year. Some of the in-numerable shows she did on radio included Mr. District Attorney, Road of Life, Front Page Farrell and other dramatic series.

On TV she has been seen on Studio One, Kraft Theatre and in running parts on two serials Secret Storm, and Young Doctor Malone, She lives in midtown New York with her husband, a director, and her 20-year-old daughter. Miss Dwyer was born in Omaha, CAROL ROUX (Missy Palmer). This showisCarolsfirst TV role, and in fact her first professional engagement. In real life she is an adopted child. California was her home.

She studied drama in New York and on graduation was given three job opportunities and took this one. The charming young brunette is engaged to a New York actor-dancer. MICHAEL M. RYAN (John Randolph). After six years of studying political science with a view to a diplomatic career, Ryan finally decided acting was what he wanted to do.

So after Georgetown Uni versity he studied acting with the noted Stella Adler. Appearances in stock and in touring companies preceded a part in Advise and Consent on Broadway. He played the title role in NBC-TVs Ben Jerrod series. While in Hollywood he made guest appearances on such shows as The Lieutenant and Eleventh Hour, The Kansas-born actor and his British-born wife have three sons. AUDRA LINDLEY (Liz Matthews), Miss Lindley came by acting naturally, since both of her parents were actors.

Though born in Hollywood, she has made most of her career in the East, appearing on Broadway and television. She did appear in a number of productions on the West Coast directed by Max Reinhardt, who helped her career. On Broadway she appeared with Art Carney in Take Her, Shes Mine and The Young and Fair with Julie Harris. Her last play was A Case of Libel, with Van Heflin. On TV she has been in most of the leading dramatic evening shows and has starred in a number of serials including From These Roots, Edge of Night and Search for Tomorrow.

She lives in Westchester with her five children. SUSAN TRUSTMAN (Pat Randolph). Bronx-born Susan was taken for elocution lessons as a child of six, to help overcome her shyness. It did that and also gave her the acting bug, from which she has never recovered. The charming blonde actress studied drama at Carnegie Tech, appeared in stock, on Broadway with Art Carney in Take Her, Shes Mine and in a variety of TV shows.

She is single and lives with her pet cats in New Yorks Greenwich Village. SHEPPERD STRUDWICK (Jim Matthews). The North Carolina-bom actor started playing leading roles on Broadway in 1933 in Maxwell Andersons Both Your Houses. He has since done 25 more leads there. In 1940 he made the first of 40 motion pictures, including Joan of Arc, Remember the Day, All the Kings Men and A Place in the Sun.

He has played in over 100 TV shows in the past 15 years. Strudwick is married to actress Mar-garet ONeill; they have one son. GEOFFREY LUMB (Michael Dru). English-bom Geoffrey Lumb didnt turn to acting until he was over 40. He had been in the wool export business.

His first Broadway appearance was in Harriet with Helen Hayes. Other shows included Clutterbuck, Two Blind Mice, Solid Gold Cadillac, Call Me Madam, and Witness for the Prosecution. Last year, he left Oliver after two-ancWa-half years to take the part in Another World. On TV, he has played in numerous drama specials and for three years was seen in As the World Turns. He is married and has two sons.

JOSEPH GALLISON (Bill Matthews). The handsome, eligible bachelor, born in Boston, attended Northeastern U. there, was brought to New York especially for this series. He has appeared in such feature films as PT 109. Critics Choice, Portrait of a Mobster, and Wackiest Ship in the Army and on such West Coast originated TV series as Kraft Theatre, Arrest and Trial, Lawman, Cheyenne and 77 Sunset Strip.

MICKI GRANT (Peggy Harris) is a singer and actress. On Broadway she was seen in Tambourines to Glory, and off-Broadway in The Cradle Will Rock, Jericho Jim Crow, Brecht on Brecht and The Blacks. She also has appeared in these and other plays on tour. Her TV credits include Edge of Night and Camera Three. GAYE HUSTON (Lee Randolph).

Twenty-two-year-old Gaye made her debut on TV 15 years ago on the Sid Caesar Show in a scene with Caesar and Imogene Coca. The charming redhead has appeared in numerous TV dramatic series, including Kraft, U.S. Steel, as well as TV serials like As the World Turns, The Doctors and Secret Storm. Recently she married Morgan Pauli, but will continue her acting career. Pauli also is an actor.

Her mother is actress Marcella Martin, and brother Martin Huston is an actor on Broadway. ITALIAN SUB LONDON (UPI) Franco Badalassi, an Italian heavyweight, replaces Willie John-son of the United States in a bout against Johnny Prescott of England at Birmingham Wednesday night. Badalassi drew with American Ray Patterson in his last bout. BEAR FACES SURGERY CHICAGO (UPI) Chicago Bear flanker Johnny Morris will under go surgery today on his right knee after sustaining an injury when his cleats caught in the grass in Friday nights loss to Los Angeles. A Bear spokesman said Morris might be available again toward the end of the season.

FOOTBALL KICKOFF NEW YORK (UPI) Penn faces Cornell Friday, Oct. 7, to kick off the 33rd annual championship race of the Eastern Intercollegiate 150-pound football league. Navy, the 1965 champion, faces Princeton the following day and Rutgers will be at Army. Columbia, the seventh league member, opens Oct. 14 with Rutgers at the Lions' Baker Field.
