The United States steamer Hudson arrived here yesterday morning at 10 o'clock and moored along side the monitor Nantucket at the custom house wharf. The steamer is fitted up as an auxiliary cruiser or patrol and: is equipped with' two 6-pounder Brigges-Schroeder guns and a rapid fire Colt One six pound'er is rigged on the forward deck and the other oni the stern. They are fine guns and at a distance of three'miles their i projectjles Will penetrate nine Inches' of are satd to be effective for five mlle9. These guns are breech loaders and efficient gunners will fire ten to twelve shotsi a minute. The gun js a twenty-two calibre weapon and Is a little monster, cartridges are on a band and are slim steel- billets about three inches long.
