Martinko was 18 when she was found stabbed to death in her familys parked car in the northeast section of the parking lot at West-dale Mall shopping center on the citys southwest side last December. Police released a drawing of a suspect in June, which prompted 225 calls to the detective bureau. While most of those calls have been checked out, Barnes said they have provided no further information on the case.

Barnes said there was only one further piece of information the police have not released concerning the case. He refused to be more specific about the information. It was reportedly parked at the Westdale'-lall Pen-neys catalog center door on the morning Martinko was found stabbed in the family car. The vans were described by witnesses under hypnosis. Detectives have known about the existence of the vans since late spring, but have not been able to locate them. The first Vein has been seen on several occasions in February and March in the areas of Highway 30 and West Post Road SW, Barnes said. The man who spotted the van did not know it was wanted by the police, however.

The existence of the vans is one of the last pieces of information the police have to go on to solve the murder, Barnes said. "Unless we get Michelle Martinko occupants of the vans could contact the detective bureau anonymously. The first van is described as a black, late model custom van with a gray stripe down the side. How is a basket woven in Amapa different from other baskets? Amana artists will demonstrate the differences as well as display and sell their work Saturday at the third annual Amana Arts Festival. Sponsored by the Amana Arts Guild at the park in Middle Amana, the event is "kind of becoming an ethnic festival, according to Gordon Kellenberger, who has been president of the board of directors of the guild since it was formed three years ago.

"Last year we served Amana ham, and some elderly people baked German pastries, Kellenberger said, adding that in addition to the food and visual arts, the festival has been expanded to include musical events, too. A new activity this year will be an "architectural walk through the town of Middle Amana, Kellenberger said. The tour, which is a study of the Amana environment and architecture, will be presented by the Amana Preservation Foundation throughout the day. "One thing very special about our art festival is that almost all the artists are from the area. Two guest artists have been invited this year.

Kellenberger said. Jerry Finch, a fiber artist from had 10 days after receipt of the figures to comment. Linda Svoboda, manager of the Census Bureau's Cedar Rapids office, said Swisher is the first review to be completed. Swishers initial count was 225 household and 598 residents. Town officials said they had no quarrel with the housing count, but said they thought the population was more like 650.

They were right. On a re-canvass of the community, census officials found 228 housing units and 655 people. The review of the preliminary census figures by Cedar Rapids officials elicited very little response, despite the fact the census showed the city lost about 5,000 residents in 10 years. The written local review document sent by Cedar Rapids to the census office cited only four questionable areas at this time: TAMA The 65th annual Mes-quakie Pow Wow is in progress this week at the Indian settlement, located just south of U.S. Highway 30 about four miles west of Toledo.
