15, 1906, on the Pratt Fruit Farm, west of Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Grant Vocational High School. He married Agnes Groat on Oct. 22, 1932, in Waverly, Iowa. Dave was a member for more than 48 years of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, Sunday School teacher and usher.

He worked many years as a pressman for Stamats Publishing and 17 years for the Cedar Rapids Public School system, where he was an engineer at Hayes and Hoover Schools. A wood craftsman and carver, Grandpa Pratt carved birds, built miniature barns, dollhouses, and other toys for his children and grandchildren. He was a tenor soloist at weddings, nursing home services and was a pupil of Ralph Leo, a local voice teacher. He had a natural ear in music and enjoyed playing the violin. Dave looked forward to his eternal resting place.

Wiggins, 83, of Fort Collins, formerly of Mount Vernon, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, in Poudre Valley Hospital, Fort Collins, after a short illness. Survivors include an adopted son, Don and wife Marla and their son Brian Wiggins of North Liberty; and a niece, Sally Paul Taylor of Stanwood. Also surviving are longtime special friends and caregivers, Jack and Betty Kuhn and their grandson Jacob Williams, Debbie Kuhn, Cherie and husband Mike Darby and their children, all of Fort Collins, Teri and husband Rich Wells of Denver and Pam and husband Jeff Westrom of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by parents; his first wife, Irene; his second wife, Twila; and his sister, Jo Lary. Jim was born April 20, 1917, the son of Harry and Bessie Meakins Wiggins, in Marion, Iowa. He worked with his parents on their dairy farm, located two miles north of Marion, and delivered milk for many years.

After marrying Irene Paul, they farmed north of Mount Vernon. Jim took a job with Kruse Lumber and moved to Mount Vernon. Jim worked at Kruse Lumber until his retirement. Irene died in 1982 and he married Twila Meyers in 1983. Twila died in 1993 and Jim moved to Fort Collins to live with Jack and Betty Kuhn.

While living in Mount Vernon, Jim was very active in the Lisbon-Mount Vernon Rotary Club, serving on its board, and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He also was a member of the Businessmen's Association and a longtime member of First Congregational Church in Cedar Rapids. A memorial fund has been established. Since 1958, he had lived in the Wellman community, where he was a self-employed carpenter. On May 30, 1959, he married Roberta Moore in Muscatine. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
