He was preceded in death by his parents. Gunther John was born June 14, 1923, in Wobbenbull, Germany, the son of Johannes and Anna Hell-man Christiansen. He served in the Air Force during World War II.

Since 1958, he had lived in the Wellman community, where he was a self-employed carpenter. On May 30, 1959, he married Roberta Moore in Muscatine. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. A memorial fund has been established for the Wellman Volunteer Ambulance and Washington County Hospice. Niles G.

Davis, 63, of 1221 St. SW, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, in University Hospitals, Iowa City, following a long illness. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, by the Rev. Jay Davis of the Toddville Free Methodist Church.

Sharae was born Sept. 15, 1950, in Rockford, 111., the daughter of Vince and Evelyn Hylbak. She moved to Mount Vernon in 1967 from Rockford. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1969 and Kirkwood Community College. She worked 26 years for Sodexho Marriott Dining Service at Cornell College.

Ferguson, 82, of Colorado Springs, formerly of North Liberty and Iowa City, Survivors include his wife, Joyce; five daughters, Gerrie Shover and husband Ed of Ana-mosa, Rebecca Vause and husband John of Gilbert, Shelli Fuller and hus Anna Wolfs, 78, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, in Lutheran Hospital, La Crosse, after a long illness. Iowa, on June 12. 19:10. The couple was privileged to share 70 years together. When a small child, she and her parents moved to Battle Creek. Iowa, where she graduated from high school as a valedictorian at age 16.

Ruth attended and graduated from Ward Belmont in Nashville, then attended and graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Following college graduation, she taught school in Baxter. Iowa, remaining in communicatijn with several of her students until her death. Ruth was interested in and active in many different ways and groups in Cedar Rapids.

She served as chairwoman of all the Cedar Rapids Community Chest residential solicitations. For many years she was a board member, president and financial chairwoman of the Home for Aged Women, now called Kingston Hill. With appreciation of art and music, she was interested In the Cedar Rapids Symphony and Cedar Rapids Museum of Art. For many years. Ruth was a member of First Presbyterian Church, served on its Board of Trustees, and was an active elder on the session.

She was president of the Chapel Society and a member of the Vetter Monday Bible Study Group. Ruth was a 68-year member and past president of PEO Iowa Chapter JT. She was a member of Tourist Club. Thursday Book Club and a 76-year member of Eastern Star. She and her husband were longtime members of the Cedar Rapids Country Club.

Together they loved to travel, read, play bridge and dine with friends. Fiends may, if they wish, make memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church, Greater Cedar Rapids Foundation or to the charity of their choice. 15, 1906, on the Pratt Fruit Farm, west of Cedar Rapids. He graduated from Grant Vocational High School. He married Agnes Groat on Oct. 22, 1932, in Waverly, Iowa. Dave was a member for more than 48 years of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, Sunday School teacher and usher.

He worked many years as a pressman for Stamats Publishing and 17 years for the Cedar Rapids Public School system, where he was an engineer at Hayes and Hoover Schools. A wood craftsman and carver. Grandpa Pratt carved birds, built miniature barns, dollhouses, and other toys for his children and grandchildren. He was a tenor soloist at weddings, nursing home services and was a pupil of Ralph Leo, a local voice teacher. He had a natural ear in music and enjoyed playing the violin.

Dave looked forward to his eternal resting place. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church in memory of Dave. GARWIN Dean W. Thomas, 84, died Monday, June 12, 2000, in Sunrise Hill Care Center, Traer, after an extended illness. Services: 10:30 a.m.

Brian Max Brown, 18, of 5841 Michael Dr. NE, died Sunday, June 11, 2000, in an auto accident at Tower Terrace and Hall roads in Linn County.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Irene; his second wife, Twila; and his sister, Jo Lary. Jim was born April 20, 1917, the son of Harry and Bessie Meakins Wiggins, in Marion, Iowa. He worked with his parents on their dairy farm, located two miles north of Marion, and delivered milk for many years.

After marrying Irene Paul, they farmed north of Mount Vernon. Jim took a job with Kruse Lumber and moved to Mount Vernon. Jim worked at Kruse Lumber until his retirement. Irene died in 1982 and he married Twila Meyers in 1983. Twila died in 1993 and Jim moved to Fort Collins to live with Jack and Betty Kuhn.

While living in Mount Vemon, Jim was very active in the Lisbon-Mount Vernon Rotary Club, serving on its board, and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He also was a member of the Businessmen's Association and a longtime member of First Congregational Church in Cedar Rapids.
