William E. Achey, 75, of 519 avenue NW, died early Monday in a Cedar Rapids hospital after a brief Illness. Addie Achey had been a resident of darion Jfor more thaa 60 years before moving to Cedar Rapids two years ago. She had been employed at the Chatterbox cafe. Memorial services win be conducted at 1:30 p.m.

Thursday at the Murdoch chapel in Marlon by the Rev. Frank H. Ward. Burial wUl be at Cedar Memorial Park cemetery. Friends may call at the Chapel after I p.m, Tuesday.

Mrs. Achey was born May 25, 1881, in Bertram. She was the last survivor of 10 children of and Mrs. Chandler Brink. Married Feb.

6, 1897, she moved to Marion in 1901. Her husband died in 1952. She was a member of the Bertram Methodist church. -Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Charles Harlan and Mrs.

Harvey Fisher, both "of Marion, and three sons, Clive and William, of Cedar Rapids, and Verle, of Marion. Also nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The steel framework of WMT-TV unfinished new television northwest of Walker collapsed at 1:18 Monday in high winds. No injuries were reported. Congregational Near Goal, Knox CKurch over Top Two Cedar Rapids church congregations raised $134,356 Sunday afternoon in campaigns concentrated into A four-hour span. One hundred campaigners from First -Congregational church receive pledges- totaling $104,267, with perhaps J5 percent of their calls yet to be completed. Twenty-six campaigners from Knox Presbyterian church received pledges totaling $30,089, with about 88 percent of their work completed. The First Congregational campaign is for funds for a new activities building to be erected at Seventeenth street and Washington avenue SE, adjacent to its church building. Goal of Sunday afternoons campaign was 8150,009 te be sdded to $25,109 already on hand for the proposed 1175,901 building.

She was a member of SL Joans circle and St Matthews church. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Patricia, Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Huff of Keota and R. R. Flicktoger of Mason City.

U. 5. Probation Officer Named for South Iowa DES MOINES (UP) Guy Owen Davis, 41, parole officer at the federal penitentiary at Leavenworth, will become a probation officer in the Southern district of Iowa Dec. 26. Davis, a former Iowan, was named to the post by Federal Judge William F.

Riley. Dan N. McEniry, probation officer for the district, said the appointment of Davis will permit increased personal supervision of federal parolees. He said that was the principal reason for Pavls appointment. McEniry will become chief probation officer for the district.

He was flying at 19,000 feet and said he was returning to Vancouver. Asks Te Descend. The department of transport stressed that Clarke did not say there was a tire in the engiai only that there was instrument warning of fire. The RCAF picked up the airliner on its radar screen at 7:09 and on minute later the pilot reported he was Just east of Hope, B. C.

He requested and was granted permission to descend to 8,000 feet because of Icing conditions. He was due back at Vancouver at 7:40. Then the airliner vanished from the radar screens. Plane Route. It was bound tor Montreal with scheduled stops at Calgary.

Police Seeking Youth Who Struck C. R. Woman Cedar Rapids police are searching for a teen-age youth who struck a Cedar Rapida woman Sunday evening near McKinley schooL Geraldine Bond, 1275 Third avenue SE, reported that she and her husband had gone to McKinley high school to look for tbelr grandchildren. Mrs; Bond met the youth, who said they might be behind the school building. He walked with her to look, she said, then when they neared the rear of the building he suddenly struck her near the left ear and on the neck and ran.

She chased him for a short distance, she reported, but lost him. "Safety has been kicked srennd as a political football too mnch, ho added. Wilford of the AFL threw in a comment that veteran preference is being completely ignored in the setlon st hand.
