Survivors include his wife, Sophia; a son, Charles III of Cedar Rapids: twin daughters, Nicole, at home, and Stephanie, at ISU in Ames; and a sister, Christine Kew of Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Charles was born Jan. 23, 1941, in Cedar Rapids to Clair and Amalia Miller. He received his B.S. degree from Parsons College and M.S.

Rapids, three daughters. Sue Augusta, died of cancer Dec. 20, 1993, in her home. Services: 3 p.m. today, Christ Church Unity, Augusta, by the Revs.

Lola and Dick Andrews. Survivors include her husband, Cameron Dale; two daughters, Ashley of Augusta and Elizabeth Price of Evans, her mother, Jewell S. Clifton of Savannah, and a grandchild. Born in LaGranger she had resided in Augusta since 1975, and was a Protestant. A registered nurse, Rebecca received her bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing from MCG, where she was irontnr nf omoroonpv eprvices.

She also was a Murdock of Cedar Rapids, Luanne Dvorak of Davenport and Cyndi Rebarcak of Ames; two sisters, Elsie Thompson of Cedar Rapids and Adlene Crow of Blairs-town; 11 grandchildren; and his former wife, Phyllis. He was preceded in death by his father in 1990 and his mother in 1993. He played for andor managed five state championship teams starting with Dance Land in 1950. It was with Whitey's Auto Sales also in 1950 and with Fleck's in 1951, 1962 and 1965.

He was active with the three runner-up teams in the state and five regional clubs. He captured batting championships in the Cedar Rapids Major Open League in 1957, 1958 and 1959. In 1957, he won the league's batting, runs batted in and home run titles. In 1962, his Fleck's Club won the regional title in Manchester, and went on to Stratford. to play in the World Softball Tourney.

He also played in the ISC World Tournament in 1961 in Rock Island, 111., and in the National ASA Slow Pitch Tourney in Chicago in 1966. Following retirement from softball, he was very active over the years in WMCA work with youngsters and baseball and football as a coach and instructor. Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Lou loved his family and friends. We all thank God for him and will miss him greatly.

James W. McDonald, 61, of Adkins, Texas, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died of lung disease Friday, Dec. 17, 1993, in Medical Center Hospital. San Antonio, after a long illness. The body was cremated.

There will be no services. Surviving are his wife, Darlene; two sons, Dennis of Marengo and Terry of Marion; two ters; Diane Tynan of Charles City and Tamie Jones of Adkins, Texas; two sisters, Anna Katcher of Cedar Rapids and Marie Siebert of Mason City; and two brothers, Bruce of Oklahoma City, and John of Missouri. Also surviving are eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a grandchild. Charles R.

Miller, 52, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1993, in his home after a long degree from North Dakota State University. While teaching at Iowa State University he worked toward his Ph.D. in educational administration. He was vice president of Rex Manufacturing Co.

He married Phyllis J. Bednar in February 1957 in Cedar Rapids. Lou was an auto mechanic for 35 years at Bob Zimmerman Ford until his retirement in 1988. He served in the Navy during World War II and received an honorable discharge in 1945. He was a member of Western Fraternal Lodge.

He became a member of Believers in Grace Church in Cedar Rapids after giving his life to Christ in 1992. On Aug. 22, 1976, Lou was inducted into the Iowa Softball Hall of Fame. He was a veteran Cedar Rapids player and manager, and was long active in every facet of community sports. He also played professional baseball with the Boston Red Sax organization in 1946 and 1947.
