For the graduates the university is planning a streamlined commencement in keeping with the war emergency but retaining so far as possible the traditional ceremonies. James Seybold Adams, of New York, an alumnus of the university, native of Brazil, and now president of Standard Indianapolis, Nov. 11 (JP) Charles William Soltau, 33, of Indianapolis, a former war plant worker and one-time German-American Bund organizer here, was found guilty today of violating the selective service act by a federal jury which deliberated only six minutes. Federal Judge Robrt C. Baltzell imposed a- five-year prison sentence.

My conscience will not permit me to bear arms against the German people, the tall, blond and ruddy Soltau said on the witness stand. Judge Baltzell leaned across the bench and asked Soltau, What was that again? The statement which startled the crowded courtroom was repeated by Soltau. He also added at the Judges insistence for clarification of his remark: This war is a war of aggression by the United States against the Germans. I am a man of German blood and I dont think it is right or fair or just for a man of German blood to bear arms against the German people. MINI PUPIL ON 1.
