At the close wheat was cent lower to cent higher, September corn was to cents higher, September cents, and oats were unchanged to Vi cent higher, September ecnts. The ever-present weight of hedging sales coupled with liquidation induced by pronounced weakness in Liverpool forced the current Movement downward shortly after the opening. Stop-loss orders uncovered by the decline also had a depressing effect.

The market, however, ran into covering by shorts and a little buying by milling interests that erased all of the losses in several deliveries. Buying was not aggressive enough, however, to maintain the rally and final prices were down the day. The main factor contributing to the lack of buying both here and abroad was the failure of European demand for North American Wheat to develop. Reports from Liverpool stated that Russia was showing samples of new wheat and that Greece had purchased some of it A report by Dun Bradstreet showed that total exports of wheat and flour from North America since July 1 amounted to only 13,696,000 bushels as compared with 21,121,000 bushels a year ago. Corn advanced into higher ground after setting a new low mark for the season in response to light receipts and a brisk demand from cash interests.

The September delivery rallied nearly 3 cents from the early low and at the close ruled about a cent higher for the day. Chicago Produce CHICAGO, Aug. EGGS: Market steady. Receipts 10,759 cases.
