H. H. Eelkema, Duluth Cavender Dies Today. School Head, Speaker. Postmaster Arthur Cavender and Commissioner George Cavendar received word this morning of the death of their rister, Elizabeth, better known to residents of Wakefield as Miss Bessie Cavender or Sister Alfred.

She died this morning at the St. Mary's hospital in Duluth, where she had been a patient for several years. Prior to that time she was a teacher at Villa Scholastics, Duluth. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Nellie Brewer, St.

Louis; four brothers. Arthur and George, of Wakefield, Walter of Superior, and Frank of San Francisco. Funeral arrangements nave not been completed. THOMASTON DEFEATS CONOCO NINE 8 TO 6 In the WPA City Softball league, the Thomaston team nosed out Conoco last evening 8 to 6. VICTIMS REPORTED IMPROVED The condition Mrs. Howard Duquette, Ishper.iing, who was injured in the auto accident at Tula early Sunday morning, is much im proved this morning. Mrs. Anthony Loncharte who was injured in the same accident, is also showing improvement, according to attendants, at the Wakefield hospital. Edwin Korpi, another son of Mr.

and Mrs. Gabriel Korpi, is now employed as a lineman for the American Telegraph company, and at the present time is located at Omaha. Mrs. Walter Knaacfc was the guest and a -single in four trips to the on the mound for plate. Newman was Thomaston while Sawaski was the pitcher for Conoco.

Ontonagon Twenty-four members of the Ontonagon Auxiliary to Smith Adams post, American Legion, enjoyed a chicken banquet at Silver Court Tuesday evening.

Following the dinner, they returned to Ontonagron, where they held their regular meeting in the" Legion club rooms. They also visitsd at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Leinonen at Hancock. Many Attend Funeral Many persons from Paynesvilie attended the funeral of Miss Leah Urpilla at her home at Kenton Tuesday afternoon. She passed away after a lengthy illness, Thursday evening.

The TJrpillas are former residents of Paynesvilie, living on a farm about one mile south of town. 4 Program for July Fourth Prepared by Committees THREE TRAFFIC LAW VIOLATORS IN COURT The hour schedule of Bessemer's Fourth of July celebration was decided upon at a meeting of committees at the Elks clubrooms last night.
