Edward W. Brooke will unveil Daniel Chester French's bronze statue, the "Standing Lincoln," Friday, May 27, at 11:30 at the Chesterwood Studio museum. The statue is a replica of the bronze in front of the Slatehouse In Lincoln, Neb. That portrayal is also known as "Lincoln at Gettysburg," since it stands before a granite shaft which bears the words of the Gettysburg Address in bronze letters. The Nebraska statue was unveiled in 1912, 10 years before Mr.

French completed the "Seated Lincoln" for the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. Last year the Cincinnati (Ohio) Museum presented the eight-foot plaster cast of the "Standing Lincoln" lo Chesterwood. Through the generosity of some of the Friends of Chesierwood, the figure has been cast at the Redi- Rassy Foundry in Brooklyn, N.Y. It will be brought to Stockbrldge. this week by the Smith Monument Co.

Creates Scholarship for Backward LENOX---Cartoonist Al Capp has created a scholarship fund at Rockwood Academy Fiere for students who are NOT doing well in public schools. Mr. Capp, creator of Li'l Abner," has guaranteed one $1,500 scholarship for each of the next three years. Winners will be chosen on basis of an annual competitive essay contest on "The Importance of Education." All essays will be judged by Mr! Naturally, a Rockwood spokesman said, the most smoothly written essay may not be a winner. The emphasis will be put on content. The spokesman said that Mr. Capp was impressed with Rockwood's of rehabilitating boys who are faced with failure in high school. 25, Arthur Kelts, executive "vice president of the Chamber of Commerce of Greater North Adams, announced today. More than $1,000 in prizes and trophies has been set aside for the float competition, Mr. Kelts said. The Chamber hss provided a list of 40 comic strips to expected entrants. No two entries will use the same comic strip.

Capalbo, 36, of Worcester, died Wednesday night of three wounds. Police found Capalbo in his car when (hey were called lo Boylston Street, where the car had rammed a telephone pole.

Capalbo told them he was shot white he was in Ihe car but he refused to say who had shot him.
