Things are going very well, he said. The board sees to it that I get two animals a week, in excellent condition. They also make sure the other butchers respect the prohibition on the sale of meat. Guillermo, Rojas, president of the Quinta Normal board, admitted finding a lot of resistance among the butchers when the jap was formed in the area.

No Grading in Schools Okayed At Iowa City Spadal to Tht Gozotta IOWA CITY The Iowa City school board Tuesday voted unanimously to continue use of the no grading system in district schools next fall. The board action followed presentation of a staff report which indicated that questionnaires sent to both teachers and parents showed both groups favored the system. Board President Philip Cline noted that the system has been a controversial issue in the past, but the small turnout this evening in contrast to the large number of parents who attended meetings to object in the past certainly means something.

Board member John Dane asked why one question concerning motivation had been deleted from the questionnaire, particularly seeing that it is motivation which disturbs most parents when it comes to the no grading system. Dane noted however that acceptance of the new system was up in every category of question asked. I merely want this question about motivation in the questionnaire next year. The board agreed to that. In other action, the board unanimously approved the appointment of Phillip Cartwright as new principal of Southeast junior high school at a salary of $17,905.

By Arthur Golden SANTIAGO, Chile (UPI) A newspaper advertisement showing a baited mousetrap drama-izes fears in Chile that the governments neighborhood price and supply boards are a step towards nationwide food rationing. The advertisement, placed by the rightist National party, describes the boards as a communist trap and warns: Dont commit suicide. Reject the The boards are known by the Spanish acronym, jap. They were formed on an informal basis soon after President Salvador AHende took office in November, 1970. They were legalized by executive order last April.

Food Supply Some 650 exist in Santiago and 350 elsewhere in Chile, mainly in low-income areas. Each has from' three to nine members, elected by the community. The boards role is to ensure hat retailers have an adequate food supply and that prices are reasonable. They have no enforcement or punitive power. Their only weapon under the aw is persuasion.

Chiles Marxist-led regime already controls most wholesale food distribution. The op- position believes the boards could intercede to block saler to retailers and customers who are foes of the Balk at 26-Floor Walk; Work Halts COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) Three crane operators who would rather ride than walk up 26 levels have halted all steel erection at the new state office building. They claim they are too exhausted to work after walking up to the 26th floor where the cranes are mounted. They have not worked for two weeks They used to take temporary elevators to the top, but a strike by elevator constructors closed the A contractor spokesman said ironworkers dont complain about the walk. They run up those steps two at a time, he said.

Opposition congressmen are studying possible legislation to end the boards. A butcher shop in the nearby port city of Valparaiso admitted recently that it had been selling meat for several months only to those area residents who held jap identity cards. An Embryo The government said the local board hads overstepped its authority and ordered the identity cards confiscated. Allende this month called the boards an embryo that will have to be developed. There should be a aboard in every village, in every block of every community.

The president said the jap should be the eyes and ears of the people. The boards should denounce stores and neighbors that are stockpiling and hoarding food. Allende has said several times this year that he would not hesitate to impose rationing if Chileans really had a revolutionary mentality. Sale of beef is not permitted from Friday through Sunday. Chile is critically short of hard currency.

The agriculture department estimates Chile will import $230 million in food this year. The national agricultural society says the figure will top $400 million. The repayments plus interest will total in the neighborhood of $104,000, he said. Assignments of $50,000 cash and property by Robert R.

It appears that the bor- rowers rights have been properly protected, Smith said. The audit report said Pearson had accepted full responsibility for the irregularities and has told the state auditors office that company President Robert B. i Mauer and Vice-President Fred K. 4 The auditors the losses to borrowers at $88,971.66 plus 8 percent annual interest amounting to $15,538.29, or a total of $104,509.95. Smith said, however, that it appears likely the final total probably will vary somewhat from that figure. The irregularities came to light when the auditors started an examination of the companys books last April 24. The audit report said that Pearson during several years past 15 had added varying amounts ranging from less than $10 to more than $500 to borrowers' accounts as cash ad vance, But it said that although the sums were included in the borrowers note -to the company, they in fact -were not advanced, 13 East lowans Enlist in Army, Navy, Marines Thirteen Eastern lowans have entered the armed forces. The staff estimate on section one was made in 1970. The paving was originally to be included in the 1971 paving project. The council will determine what course of action to take after responses from the area residents are received.
