We are gding to do some things in Belfast this weekend, one UDA official said. Obviously were not going to tell you what our plans are. UDA leaders said Tuesday their men will fire back if they are fired upon by troops in any new confrontation. The UDA is trying to force the army to move against Roman Catholic no go areas in Londonderry. A negotiated compromise over a UDA move to extend barricades around a Catholic neighborhood Monday night headed off a showdown between 1,500 troops and an estimated 8,000 UDA men armed with lead-tipped axe handles.

New action this weekend will not necessarily come at the barricades around three Protestant no go" areas, the UDA official said. An 18-year-old Protestant youth was wounded in the leg by a shot fired from a car Tuesday as he manned a barricade in north Belfast. In the same area troops fired rubber bullets to disperse a mob of about 50 men in UDA peaked caps and olive jackets who surrounded them as they moved in to recover a hijacked The UDAs second in command, hiding his identity behind dark glasses, told a news conference Tuesday what the association hopes to achieve. We are going to increase the action and try to push Mr. (Northern Ireland secretary William) Whitelaw and Mr.

Hanrahan, who won renomination in the Democratic primary March 21 by defeating a liberal independent and a candidate backed by Mayor Richard J. Daley, has refused to plead to the charges, saying the charges are invalid.

Two young Panther leaders, Mark Clark and Fred Hampton, were killed during the raid and the seven surviving Panthers were charged with attempted murder. The gist of the indictment against Hanrahan was that he gave a grand jury evidence which he knew or reasonably should have known to be false and inflammatory to procure charges against the Panthers. Charges against the surviving Panthers-were later dropped for lack of evidence. A federal grand jury determined that the raiding police had fired about 100 shots and the Panthers only one, although 19 illegal weapons we.e found in the apartment. Who Moves Next? The 24-game championship match was scheduled to start Sunday, but Fischer, a 29-year-old chess genius from Brooklyn, failed to turn up, mostly because he wanted more money than the $125,000 purse put up by the STARTING JULY 6th WE WILL BE OPEN THURSDAY NIGHTS UNTIL 9 P.M. By this, Fischer insulted me, personally, and the Chess Federation of the U.S.S.R., which I represent. He added that since Fischer had broken the rules he must bear the just punishment before there is a hope of holding the match. Only after this can I return to the question about the possibility of holding the match.

He also demanded a personal apology. Fischers lawyer, Paul Marshall, and his second, Father William Lombardy, were organizers. All appeared saved when a British millionaire banker and chess fan dug into his own pocket to offer another $125,000. Fischer was on the next plane to Reykjavik and arrived Tuesday morning, where he quickly left the airport not to be seen since. Came the draw Tuesday to see who would play white for the first game and Fischer was asleep.

So he sent his second, while Spassky was there in person. The world champion, 35, apparently decided he had had enough of Fischers antics and issued a statement that said: Fischer broke the rules of We are hopeful we will be able to solve our differences with the Russians, said Marshall after a 2-hour session with Spasskys advisers Tuesday night. Marshall said he and Father Lombardy, a burly Catholic priest and international chess grand master, will sit down again with the Russians today to try to solve the problems. We are making progress, Father Lombardy said. Dr.

The total lifesaving method, termed the most important emergency procedure developed in the last 25 to 50 years, can also be applied in cases of drowning, asphyxiation, poisonings and electrical shock.

Dr. Richard E. Nicholson, director of medical services for the Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Co. was referring to what is medically termed the closed chest method of cardiqpulmonary resuscitation. (CPR) Hie procedure was unveiled in a pilot program June 23 in which physicians gave instructions to policemen, firemen, rescue squads and others at the Connecticut Police Academy in Meriden.

He says training children is a long range goal of the program. The key to properly executing the method is training adults to recognize certain symptoms and then reacting swiftly, applying the technique consisting of specific manual chest pressure and exact mouth-to-mouth ventilation. Nicholson envisions a pyramid system of training in which those in the medical, dental, nursing' and allied, health professions, would train policemen, firemen, rescue squads and emergency crews. They in turn would pass on their knowledge to segments of the general public in organized programs that would eventually extend to school children. The Connecticut program was designed by Nicholson and Dr.

Robert Huszar of Hartfords St. Francis Hospital and is sponsored by the Connecticut Heart Association and the Heart Association of Greater Hartford. September Effort A concentrated effort to enroll citizens in the program will begin in September and Nicholson sees the survival rate among sudden death victims increasing as the program continues and expands. He said 250 people were trained in the Jacksonville, area and an aerage of two lives weekly have been saved that otherwise would have been lost because the victims could not be hospitalized in time. We hope to train 30 to 50 instructors every month.

Our goal is 1,000 instructors in three years, says Nicholson. The idea of training the general public in the method was unheard of 15 years ago and it was used almost exclusively in the medical field. But sufficient medical evidence has surfaced to take into the public domain as an emergency procedure with the most convincing statistic being a 25 per cent survival rate in 1,270 cases.
