Frederic Apcar has been one of Vegas top pro ducers for several years now.

His successes have been many and hes certainly left his mark on the town. Apcar first rose to prominence when he conceived and produced Las Vegas first lavish lounge revue Vive Les Girls." The show caught on like wildfire and hardly a performance was without a sellout. Because of the tremen dous response to this production, the Dunes revamped its main showroom and gave Apcar the go ahead to produce a spectacular on the scale of the Lido" and Tolies Bergere" shows, Sean Connery was hired to design a space age stage and the Dunes now famed Octoramic was born. Apcar presented his first edition" of Casino de Par-1 isP to open the new room. It proved a spectacular in every sense of the word.

It differed from the other spectaculars in town in that it featured a star performer, Line Refiaud, whom Apcar imported from France. In the meantime, Vive Les Girls" continued its smash run in the lounge and Apcar sent two editions of the show on the road. Just recently, the Dunes eliminated the lounge in favor of enlarging the casino area. Vive Les Girls" succumbed to rids move. However, Apcars latest edition of Casino de is going strong with rotund Faye McKay in tpe starring Miss McKay may just be the best crowd pleaser Apcar has had since Line Renaud.

In past productions, Apcar has presented his stars in Ziegfeldian fashion by having them descend a long flight of stairs to the center of the stage. The stairs are still there for this production but Miss McKay makes quite a splash out of not descending them. -i McKays voice is as big as her size. Besides belting out Bill Bailey" and Mame," a pair of naturals for her," she does a coloratura takeoff on Chiribiribin" and then stops the show with a parody on Twelve Days (Daze) of Christmas." Her lover, in the parody, gives her various labels of well known booze and by the time she gets to the twelfth'day well you can just about figure out the ending. Miss McKays chfrent run, Im sure, will be long one.

And, with or without "Vive Les Girls," Frederic Apcars presence in Las Vegas is sure to be felt for some time to come. in-mi' Daily Special 5 American Oakland 2021 Frultval Ay HOT ENTREES sap. What brpught it all on was a birthday -party for bandleader Rand Wilde, a widely known personality here in the dance band days. The party was the brainchild of Larry Cappelli who once played here regularly at the Lake Merritt HoteL it Cappelli rounded up several past members of the wide band, including Don Mulford, Joe Luke, Roger Bourke and.

John Cirimele. And there were numerous others from as far away as Oregon. There was a great deal of reminiscing and Cappelli produced some of Wildes recordings to top off the evenings reunion. Some of the band members hadnt seen each other, or Wilde, for niore than 25 years. So its easy to see why the party lasted until just about closing time.
