As the first all cartoon feature ever to be produced in Cinemascope, Disney's latest accomplishment in color by Technicolor certainly utilizes the broad expanse of Cinemascope screen available. Starting from the opening scene a whole wonderful world of dogs cavorts merrily, musically and magically to the delight of all those who observe them. Theres Lady, a society-bred cocker spaniel who provides the ingenue interest. There's Tramp, the soldier of fortune from the wrong side of the tracks who handles the heroics in a manner worthy of Rin-Tin-Tin. And there are others; Jock, Trusty, Boris, Toughy, Bull, Pedro and Dachsie, all new additions to the Disney album of animated personalities.

And here's a special mention for "Peg, the ex-showdog who almost stops the show with her torchy delivery of the hit ballad, Hes A Tramp. The musical score is by Oliver Wallace with featured songs bv Peggy Lee and Sonny Burke. The score is rounded out with La-La-Lu, a lullaby; Siamese Cat Song, performed by two de-strucive ame cats aptly name Si and Am; Peace On Earth, a stirring Christmas carol; and Bella Notte a romantic love song dedicated to the beautiful night that Lady and Tramp fall in love. Aside from writing the lyrics to the songs. Peggy Lee provides the vocal characterization for four of the animated characters and finishes up her busy stint by singing the songs on the sound track with all four of her voices.

Other vocal chores are turned in by such top radio stars as Verna Felton, Bill Thompson, Barbara Luddy, Stan Freberg, Larry Roberts and the world famous Greek Ambassador, George Gi-vot. Lady And The Tramp is entertainment with a capital E. It is Walt Disney at his creative best with a new story, exciting characters, in color by Technicolor and CinemaScope as it has never before been used. Twenty two years ago in Camden, New Jersey, Dick Hollings-head, an industrialist, projected pictures on an improvised screen on a parking lot next to his factory for the entertainment of his employees whom he could only employ part time during the height of the depression days in 1933.

The idea enjoved such popularity that later Hollings-head opened the first commercial drive-in theatre. Since its inception the drive-in theatre has grown and developed to become an integral part of the motion picture industry and today 4,125 drive-in theatres provide king-size entertainment to an average of 11 million people weekly which represents 22 per cent of the total gross of the entire industry. During the anniversary drive-in theatres throi.fh-out the nation are planning a festival of top motion pictures set in a party atmosphere for their millions of patrons who have come to love this great entertainment medium that has lived, up to its slogan, Dedicated to the entertainment of the family. In towns where theatres locked their doors, these were common reactions: 1. Chambers of Commerce and civic organizations attempted to raise money to underwrite the operation so it could be reopened. 2. Residents of an entire trading area went elsewhere to see movies and began shopping out of town. 3.

Without the flash of lights on a theatre marquee, a business section had a cast of gloom in the evening. 4. The word closed on the marquee haunted progressive minded individuals. They know that a town which cannot support a theatre is considered quite dead. 5.

Families looking for a home in a good community oftentimes consider a show house along with schools, churches, and medical facilities. When a town becomes a good place to live, its real estate has value. 6. The pay roll of a theatre cannot help but be missed in a town. 7.

Funds spent for advertising, fuel, lights, water, and improvements at a theatre are a husky contribution to the economy of any community. 8. Every city is anxious to ive entertainment and recreation st youth are not obliged to drive away for pleasures. Usually, local movie owners do not want sympathy. They do need and appreciate patronage and support.

they can stay in business and make a community a better place to live, however. Almost every theatre has spent considerable in recent months for equipment so that wide screen pictures can be seen at home. Are the movies really getting better all the time? Ask yourself question frequently. If you cannot give an honest answer, take the family out for a treat at the show house tonight.
