Colburn graduated from Bennington College in 1991 with a degree in dance and began her career as an archivist with the University of Vermont and the Shelburne Museum. JOHNSBURY The Fairbanks Museum and Planetarium as hired Bennington College graduate Selene Colburn as archivist for the St. Johnsbury Collaborative Archives Project. Colburn, a native of Burlington, will begin her new post in the early fall. She is presently employed by the WGBH Education Foundation in Boston, Mass. The project entails arranging, describing, cataloging an preserving the documentary holding of the museum, the St.

Johnsbury Athenaeum, St. Johnsbury Academy and the town of St. Johnsbury in partnership with the St. Johnsbury Historical Society. While many high school students are spending their summers camping, working, vacationing or surfing the internet, 50 U.S. students, including Bennington resident James Wolfe, are on the excursion of a lifetime. As part of the Sony Student Project Abroad (SSPA), these students visited Sony facilities on the West Coast and then traveled to Japan.

The trip fuses the latest digital technologies, as well as Japanese history and culture, into a unique learning experience. To qualify, students must demonstrate academic excellence and express an interest in mathematics an science and be nominated by a U.S. senator. Sen. Patrick Leahy nominated Wolfe.

The students left for Japan after a week of travelling through California. On the West Coast, they toured Sony Electronics, and other Sony divisions.
