No( I 1(12 Bi'mingloii Manner Pug 9 Italian Paintings opens at the Clark Art Institute Exhibit of WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -Italian Iumtings, 11150-1910, a larue exhibition composed of loans from all over the Northeastern United States, opened recently at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute in Wilhamstown. Williams College Museum, they wrote the series of essays which comprise the 84-page illustrated catalogue, on sale for $6 95. The catalogue also has an addendum which lists all the Italian paintings from this period in public collections the Northeast.

"Italian Paintings," 1850-1910 may be seen at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute in Williamstown during the institute's regular hours, Tuesday-Sunday 10-5. Admission is free. One section of the exhibit is devoted to Italian painters who settled in Paris and highlights four small but technically dazzling pictures from the Clark collection by Giovanni Boldini. The exhibition, which will remain on view through Dee. 5, has been organized by David B.

Cass, associate curator of paintings, and John Wettenhall, a graduate of the Williams College graduate program in the history of art. With Russell Panczenko, assistant director of the demonstrates that they have an Independent character and development in no way imitative of their French counterparts. Italian painting of this period shuws great variety of style, ranging from the richly painted realism of Antonio Manclms Circus Boy and Alessandro Milesi's Market Scene in Venice" to the strokes of brilliant, pure color visible in Angelo Mor-belli's The Rice Gleaners and Enrico Lianne's Flowers and Fruit." galleries in the Northeast. Besides highlighting a selection of paintings from regional collections with which the public is relatively unfamiliar, the exhibition defines the development of a distinct national identity in Italian art during the second half of the 19th century. While certain Italian movements such as Naturalism in Naples and Divisionism in Milan sometimes recall French movements (in this case, Barbizon painting and Pointillism, respectively), the exhibition Williams Choral group will perform Nov.

The Williams College Choral Society, conducted by Kenneth Roberts, will present an evening of opera excerpts as their major concert of the semester on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 8.30 p.m. in Chapin Hall. Voyagers, Tales of the Gold Monkey, and Bring 'em Back Alive all make wartime violence and intrigue into exciting family fun, said Dr. Thomas Radecki, a psychiatrist with the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and chairman of the National Coalition on Television Violence reported.

Bombs, grenades, airplane duels, and taking the law into your own hands all become routine for the home viewers, Radecki said Sunday, cautioning, We should be especially careful to portray violence and war accurately. Heading the list of violent shows are NBCs Voyagers with 37 violent acts per hour, ABCs Fall Guy with 30, and ABCs Tales of the Gold Monkey with 27. Cartoon violence set another new record for the spring quarter, increasing 20 percent to 36 violent acts per hour Saturday mornings, the All-star cast for Malibu HOLLYWOOD (UPI) Malibu, a new four-hour ABC-TV miniseries, will be weighted down with a roster of familiar names and faces James Coburn, George Hamilton, Kim Novak, Valerie Perrine and Eva Marie Saint.
