The FBI then hid memos showing other men, including an informant it wanted to protect, were the real killers. Spielberg's movie company wants to tell the life story of his client and Garo's efforts to exonerate him. Garo says if "highly unlikely" the audit is random. It's being launched at the same time the Justice Department is urging a judge to force them to disclose details about their contract with DreamWorks.

Peggy Riley, a spokeswoman for the IRS in Boston, declined to comment, saying the agency cant discuss individual taxpayer cases. But she said, "In general, FES enforcement decisions are based strictly on tax issues." BOSTON (AP) The lawyer for a man who's suing the federal government after bang framed for a gangland murder has been notified that the IRS plans to audit him. Victor Garo says he finds that suspicious, rjartiailarty since the agency wants to audit his records for 2003, the same year he and his client were paid by Steven Spielberg's DreamWorks SKG to tell their story. "If this is a move by the government to intimidate me, it wont work," Garo told The Boston Globe. Garo represented Joseph Sal-vati, a Boston man who spent 30 years in prison after being framed in a gangland murder Salvati, whose sentence was commuted in 1997, was exonerated of the Deegan murder in 2001.

A judge ruled that FBI agents, in an effort to protect an informant, withheld evidence that would have proved Salvati's innocence. Man convicted of 1980 murder may get new trial SPRINGFIELD (AP) A federal judge has ruled that a man convicted of killing his former brother-in-law in 1980 should either be released or given a new trial because prosecutors emphasized a "homosexual element to the murder" but suppressed evidence that no sexual encounter took place. Prosecutors in the 1981 trial had argued to the jury that Wayne Healy, a gay man from Chicopee, killed his brother-in-law during a sexual encounter. His brother-in-law, Richard Cha-lue, 29, of Holyoke, was found with his genitals exposed and his hands tied behind his back. However, Heahs lawyer, Wendy Sibbison argued that prosecutors did not disclose that the state pathologist found no evidence of any sexual activity on the part of the victim.

U.S. District Judge Michael Ponsor ruled that suppressing that information handicapped the defense "in an obviously Father seeks records in case of missing girl said a missing person investigation has the potential of being a criminal case and thus details that could compromise the investigation cannot be made public The state has maintained that it has shared any details that would not jeopardize the investigation into the disappearance of the woman, who was a nursing student at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst After the hearing, Murray said he needs some of those records in his effort to recreate a timeline of what happened. Murray said members of his family have received interesting information from people and relayed that information to police. "We'd like to get these records, to see if any of this is being followed up on," Murray said. "I'm moving every stone I can find, that I can budge.

Maybe I can get a break, finally. I can use it" he said. HAVERHILL, N.H. (AP) A judge Wednesday took under advisement a Massachusetts man's request to see the police files in the case of his daughter who disappeared in northern New Hampshire. Grafton County Superior Court Judge Timothy Vaughan heard the case in Haverhill a few miles from where Maura Murray, 21, disappeared after a minor car accident on Route 112 in February 2004, the Valley News reported.

Fred Murray of Hanson, believes his daughter was a victim of foul play and has is working with private detectives to investigate the case. Murray claims police, the attorney general and the governor violated state and federal public information laws by not releasing the investigative files and that New Hampshire authorities have failed to conduct a criminal investigation.
