Finally, be aware that some aerosol containers have red dots on their rims. By lining up the valve opening with the red. dot and holding the can at a 45-degree angle, you can get the last bit of product out of the container. This is made possible since the tube inside the container that controls the flow of the can contents is always over to one side. Nephi weather E.C.

The Consumer Aerosol Products Council offers guidelines to help you get the most out of your aerosol product in a safe, effective manner. First, follow the directions on the product label. Some aerosols need to be shaken to mix the product ingredients and the propellent.

Also, most aerosols must be kept upright in order to get the proper mix of contents. For Sale Notices Legal Notices by Kathy Riggs 1 USU Extension Home Economist Not long ago, you may remember, a lot of en-vironmental and health concerns centered around the use of aerosol products containing (CFC 8), Kathy Riggs which were suspected of depleting the earths ozone layer. Since you still see aerosol products on the shelves, you may be wondering how they ever escaped federal regulations.

Well, heres what has happened to the CFC issue as it relates to aerosol containers. Since 1978, when U.S. regula-1 tions banned most CFC use as aerosol propellants, 98 percent of aerosols made and sold in the country have not contained CFCs. The products you now see on the shelves at the supermarket, pharmacy, and hardware stores contain propellants other than CFCs. The remaining percent are products exempt from federal regulations and include mostly medical and pharmaceutical products such as asthma inhalers.

You may also be interested to know that according to the Consumer Aerosol Products Council, aerosol cans are recyclable. Almost 90 percent of aerosol containers are made of tinplated steel and are recyclable as steel cans. The tin also is recovered during processing, and in todays industrial recycling facilities, any propellent or product that may be left in the cans presents no hazard. Consumer protection is another important aspect of aerosol cans. Aerosols are sealed so the contents cannot leak or spill The sealed container protects the product inside from contamination, which is a must with first-aid sprays and products shared by family members.

The seal also prevents the product from evaporating. Manufacturers of aerosol 'products maintain that the itemsare designed Tor easy use, effectiveneess, and economy, and that they have advantages not available in any other form of packaging. Shaving cream, cooking sprays, no-touch disinfectants, asthma inhalers, and wasp and hornet sprays are just a few examples of products that take advantage of aerosol Levan weather Vem Mangelson, reporter Any of Bernie Tidwell's friends interested in sending a message on video tape to Germany should call Anna at 623-1822 or Ben at 623-1911 11 Please check your Times-News classified ad the first week it appears If you find a Imistake, telephone us promptly The Times-News will be responsible for one in-jcorrect insertion only t-fas your life been affected by drinking?
