Manhatan, on July 2J, wss found last night at North Beach, and wa In the Lgng Island City police court thla morning. An older sister, Fanny, wa in court and lodged a complaint against the prisoner of being disorderly, A strange feature of the case Is that the father cf the girl, following a threat made by Italians to put him out of the has disappeared and cannot be found. A few day after the gtrl left her horns her father suspected the son of an Italian neighbor of being connected with the disappearance of his daughter and caused the youths arrest. When the charge si heard in a Manhattan court it wa. dismissed.

The day following the father of the girl received an anonymous note stating that he woilld be put out of the way for disgracing the young man by having him locked up. The court decided to commit the younger girl to the care of the Brooklyn Childrens Society, pending an investigation. JAILED BECAUSE SHE COULDN'T KEEP HER WORD. Minnie Blake, a nurse of North Brothers Island, entered the Adam street court to-day with a stab Wound in her chest. She said she was assaulted at Hudson avenue and Hilary street by an unknown man.

Th wound was. not serious. The woman was locked up charged with Intoxication. A few days ago th earn woman waa found on Hudson avenue tn -a drunken condition, and when arraigned in court the next morning complained that an unknown man with whom she had been drinking had robbed her of $18. After a lecture on her promise to behave herself, Magistrate Tlgh discharged her.

LAY CORNERSTONE OF THE SENATE BUILDING. WASHINGTON, July II. Without th least pretense at ceremony the cornerstone of the stately Senate office building waa laid on Capitol Hill to-day at 18 oclock. Just aa the time ball on the State, War and Navy Building dropped Elliott Woods, superintendent of th Capitol, and supervisor of the construction of the newi building, gave the signal. There was a creaking of derrick and the hug block of granite, on which had been cut th dete, was swung into place.

In the cornerstone were placed several coins, copies of the Washington papers cf to-day date and a copy of the act authorizing the construction of the building. NEW SOUTHERN PAcTFlC STEAMER IS LAUNCHED. PHILADELPHIA, July $1. Ths Southern Pacific Companys new steamer, Th Momus. waa launched from th shipyards of the Cramps to-day.

Murphy dropped In at Tammany Hall to-day. He was aeked about the Hearst movement and the Democratic situation, but refused to discuss any political matters. The Tammany leader said he knew nothing of th movements of the Hearst men or of the Democratic State Committee. He alto refused to express opinion a to' whether the Democratic State Convention would meet before the Independence League Convention. In fact, he declared he knew nothing about any of the action of his party or any other.

Ex-Mayor Morri Block, of Kingston, wss very optimistic about th Hearst chances in the vicinity of city. Ho declared that Benret feeling was strong in and about Kingston, and that the Inde.endenre League would score a big following when the time came. Justice Samuel Seabury- has been appointed temporary chatrman of the Independence League State Committee. Seabury seems to he th natural choice for permanent head of the Hearst fol- ThBrooklyn delegation arrived at the Gllsey House If oclock to-day. It wa rumored that Henry A.

Powreil, who Is one of the member or th delegation, would be elected vice-chairman of the State Committee, and that the Brooklyn delegation would hsv much tQ do with the affairs of the convention. Among those who were member of the Brooklyn delegation were- Robert Stewart, John T. Moran, of the Eight Assembly District; Charles Henkel and C. Augustus Havt-land or the Eleventh, and Coroner Henry J. Brewer, of the Seventh.

Ayers, an ex-Assistant Corporation Counsel, appeared in the Adam street court this morning to answer to a charge of assault preferred by Miss Anna Dreshler, of 331 Covert street. Glendale. The lieutenant went before Presiding Justice Deuel and asked that Albert Bricknew, one of the crew of the Calumet, on trial for assaulting Another of the crew, Joseph Pritchard, of 101 Atlantic avenue, be turned over to the Revenue 8ervlce for trial by court-martial. Bricknew assaulted Pritchard Saturday rooming while the cutter was laying at the Barge Office because he refused to Join In an application for raise of wages from J50 to. 360 a month. Edward Carpel, his lawyer, contended that the affair cams under the Jurisdiction of the Federal authorities, and that the Magistrate could not hold Bricknew.
