Includes Chimney Corner. 'As respects the purchase by the American Exchange-Irving Trust Company of 1 Wall street, the 'most valuable plot in the world for banking purposes" announced by Lewis E. Pierson, chairman of the board, the plot Includes the famous "chimney corner" building at 1 Wall street and other buildings extending 190 feet southward on Broadway and eastward on Wall street to New street. The price paid for the plot, although not reported. Is understood to be considerably In excess of 7, 000,000, the total assessed valuation of the property being 96,950,000.

The famous "chimney corner," which is occupied by an eighteen-story building standing on a plot about 99x29 feet. Is the most valuable parcel of land In New York City In relation to its slse, being assessed at 61.06M0O. The Amerioan Exchange-Irving Trust Company, with capital funds of about 862,000,000 and resources of over 6700, 000, 050, ranks fourth among the city'e financial institutions and fifth In the country. Records in Wall street real estate values are believed approached by the transaction, which, if estimates are correct, involves the price of approximately 9729 a square foot for the property. The-new bank building will occupy the entire section along Broadway, from 66 Broadway to Wall street, through to New street, and Include 7 Wall street.

These moves by the big Institutions mentioned are In line with the recent huge Increase In capitalization of the Natlonel City Bank and the National City Company, fn meeting contemplated competition from Giannini Interests. The Chase National Bank, which shares with the National City Bank the distinction of posseewlrnr re sources In excess of one billion dollars, followed the move of its rivals by voting an Increase of 940,000,000 for expansion of capital and supples of the bank and the Institution's investment compsny, the Chase Securities Corporation. Other big increases may be looked forward to soon, Yesterday' stockholders of the Chemical National Bank of New York ratified an Increase In the capital stock to 96,000,000 from and plans foK organization of a securities' company to be known as the Chemical National Company.

Corroon has had over 30 years' experience in the fire insurance business and is president and director of a number of prominent fine insurance companies. It is estimated that the group of companies under Corroon Reynolds, management will receive a premium income of $17,000,000 during 1928. The Sylvania Insurance Company will receive as large a volume of carefully underwritten business as it can conservatively assimilate.
