Naturally the rise in Montgomery Ward has revived the old tale of it being linked with Bears Roebuck and on terms highly advantageous to Montgomery Ward because of th difference In quoted values of ths stocks of th two companies. That, too, lacks confirmation. close.

GOTTEN 'S WEALTH. It la currently reported that Arthur W. Cutten made more than million dollars in the rise in Montgomery Ward yesterday. That may be so, but if Mr. Cutten had purchased all of the stock credited to him In tha last year he must have made something like ten billions of dollars.

Whenever a stock moves upward with any violence the advance is ascribed to Cutten buying. Mr. Cutten has displaced W. C. Durant as the great buyer of stocks, big and little, high and low.

If he should die suddenly, many financial writers would be forced to think fast to find a substitute. 102 98 Vi 99 99 Vi 94 85 69 96 94 76 67 102 98 99 99 Vs 94 85 69 66 95 77 97 ALLISON DRUG STORES.
