Italy In Search For Premier Home (pi. President Giovanni Gronchi today started a search for a new Christian Democratic premier to lead Italy out of the most bewildering political jungle in its postwar history. Gronchi scheduled a series of consultations with party leaders after the resignation last night of 69-year-old Adone Zoli, who refused to remain in office because his 22 day-old minority government was dependent on Fascist votes in parliament. There was no indication who might get the nod, but 55-year-old Giuseppe Pella, a former premier, was mentioned frequently. Choice of a Christian Democrat appeared certain.

It is the biggest party in parliament although it is short of majorities in both houses. The new government also will be little more than a caretaker regime until the next elections. These are scheduled next spring, but could come earlier if the recent lack of cooperation among the center parties continues. The big question was whether the man Gronchi finally selects will try for a coalition or a one-party, minority government. Already they are seeking bet ter nesting spots as city recreation crews demolish the tules bordering the lake. In place of the tules and mud-hens, eight to 10 family-size barbecue pits are to be erected at the lakeside. Six fishing piers are to be dot ted around the lake for use of children aged 16 and under, and one corner of the park has been set aside for a "tot-lot" kiddies playground which will have swings, a small round-about, slides, gymnastic bars and jungle gym. Capitola Joins Safety Campaign Capitola is participating in the statewide accident prevention contest which runs from Memorial Day. until Labor Day, Marty Berg-thold, Capftola chief of police, announced this morning. The event is designed to place emphasis on traffic control and lower the accident fatality and severity rate in the city, he explained. Winners are determined on a population-death rate basis (numbers of deaths per 100,000 population). The program is spon sored by the California Association of Insurance Agents, coordinated by the National Automobile club and administered by the California Traffic Safety foundation.

Let put our city behind this crusade 100 per cent and be the first place winner," Bergthold said.
