The highway should be paved on Thursday and Friday, July 27 and 28, Kuehl said. Shoulders should be complete by Aug. 4 and railroad crossing arms, guards and signals should be installed before Aug. 11, he said. The overpass is being replaced mainly because it is cheaper to remove it, rather than repair it, Kuehl said.

sm of leensehlen Wapello High place Saturday Chief Wapello ri ll INDIANOLA (AP) State investigators have joined the prpbe Into the weekend assault of a In-dianola newspaper carrier because they believe jhere may be a link with the disappearances of two other carriers. Eugene Meyer, the DCI's assistant director, said there are similarities in the weekend attack oh an 11-year-old boy, the 1982 disappearance of Johnny Gosch of West Des Moines and the 1984 apparent abduction of Eugene Martin of Des Moines. All three boys delivered the Des Moines Register newspaper. "There are obviously things each day, there is only a limited need for an overpass. "That won't work at all locations," Kuehl said.

The steep vertical grade, built up by dirt embankments, also posed a safety hazard, he said. -The dirt from those embankments was moved onto the adjacent farmers' ground, Kuehl said. 'Old timers there tell me that's where the-dirt-came from originally, so basically we're putting it right back from, where it came from many years ago," Kuehl said. A similar railroad overpass just west of Atalissa on U.S. Highway 6 is scheduled to be removed and replaced with an at-grade crossing HU990.

The assailant was described as white, about 6 feet, 2 inches tall, 40 to 45 years old, slightly stooped with dark hair flecked with gray The car he was driving was white with a dark vinyl top. Two other Register carriers were chased last year by men who have never been identified.
