Nov. 3. Insanity Is Increasing at an alarming rate In England and Wales, according to official advices receded from the State Department from United States Consul Daniels at Sheffield.

At the last census of the insane, Mr. Daniels sas, there ere certified lunatics, which was an in crease of 3,235 over the ear previous. The annual average Increase of Insane In the last ten years has been 2.513 As compared to the estimated population of England and Wta)e. the insane are in the proportion of 1: to 288, or 34 7 to 10,000. Alcoholic Intemperance takes first place among the physical causes, particularly among the males, a here 22 8 per cent, is given, as against 9 5 per cent, among fe males.
