Handel. Accompanists were Ann Brown, Carrie Ravenscraft Dawson and Lynette Yoder. After the recitals, instructors Ann Brown and Meagan Clement gave out certificates of achievement to students completing various books of the Suzuki methodology from beginning to advanced. Maggie Brown, Laura Waldron and Conrad Yoder completed Twinkles; Kari Mullis and Erin Rutan, Book Annie Donato and Abby Rahman, Book Merris Egloff, Book Erin Egloff, Rachel Gruenloh, Taylor Huffman and Wade Yoder, Book Noah Moss, Book and Marissa Emmert and Madeleine Pelzel, Book 6. Michelle Ginter received a trophy for completing all 10 books.

Strings Inc. has approximately 85 students. Beckman is winner of letter contest JASPER Emily Beckman, an eighth-grade student at Jasper Middle School, was named the first-place winner in Letters About Literature contest sponsored by the Library of Congress in partnership with Target stores. Students were asked to write a letter to the author of a piece of literature explaining how that author's work changed the student's way of thinking about the world or themselves. Beckman's letter to Jodi Picoult, author of "My Sister's Keeper," was chosen as the winner in a pool of more than 5,000 entries submitted in Indiana by seventh- and eighth-graders.

Her letter advanced to the national level, where she was named to the final 10. As a state winner, she received a plaque, a $200 check and a $50 Target gift card. She is the daughter of Mike and Staci Hanselman and Bruce Beckman. Other Jasper Middle School eighth-graders were named as state semifinalists. They were Megan Stenftenagel, daughter of Scott and Karen Stenftenagel; Carson Popp, Jasper Middle.

Grade seven at Hoosier Business Machines: Kyle Miller, Jasper Middle; Hunter Popp, Jasper Middle; Alexa Nordhoff. Jasper Middle; Jacob Lamey, Holy Family; and Emily Lichlyter, Jasper Middle. Grade eight at Hoosier Business Machines: Allison Welp, Jasper Middle; Matt Dillon, Jasper Middle; Brandi Collignon, Jasper Middle; Sarah Barth, Jasper Middle; and Zach Grewe, Holy Family. The art teachers are Ruth Gehlhausen, Margo Walker, Sharon Loveless, Bill Whorrall, Jennifer Tolbert and Tori Beach. Strings Inc.

holds spring recital Strings Inc. held its annual spring recital Friday through Sunday, April 24 to 26, at Dale Presbyterian Church.
