Drivers must submit their entries before June 13 to John D. Grove, director of the holiday event. races will be run on a heat elimination basis.

Drivers will be classified according to their age. Class A will be for boys 13-15 years, inclusive; Class fl-12 years, inclusive. Ages will be computed as of the day of the race. Lions Richard Endres and Arthur Neary will erect ramps at the head of Mifflin Street for the use of the drivers. Three cars will run in each race.

Lion Richard Stotler will serve as time keeper for the races, Grove announced today. The lining of the race course will be in charge of Lion Herbert liland. Any boy between the ages of 9 and 15 inclusive living- in' Huntingdon or within two miles of the borough is eligible to enter the derby and compete for a prize. FIRST GRID MEETING Penn State and Boston College will meet in football for the first time in 1949. The game will be played at State College, Pa.

Larkin was suspended from duty today after admitting to his superiors that he attemped to "fix" a juror a bank robbery attempt trial. Pclice Supt.

Harvey J. Scott and Charles S. Johnston, chief of Allegheny County detectives, said Larkin admitted he tried to in-, fluence a juror in the second trial of Ben Husick. The 37-year-1 Id defendant was charged with trying to snatch $800 from the teller's cage in the First National Bank of Wilkinsburg. Meanwhile, county detectives searched for a second man who allegedly tried to influence the juror yesterday to sway a verdict.

The charges of jury tampering resulted in Judge Sara M. Soffel ending the trial just as the case was to go to the jury. She ordered a. thorough investigation. Last March Husick's first trial ended in a hung jury.

Shortly afterwards Wilkinsburg Police Officer Lester (Red) Smith was charged with attempting to "fix" a key witness. Smith allegedly tried to persuade Benjamin F. Hellings, 73, a retired police officer, to "go easy" in his testimony against Husick. Hellings grappled with Husick during the holdup attempt. Smith was held for court on charges of obstructing justice.

TRUMAN RECEIVES EVICTION APPEALS Connellsville, May appeal to President Truman to stop the scheduled evictions of 22 families from Gibson Terrace was forwarded to'day by city council and the Chamber of Commerce. Payette County Housing Authority said the families must leave the low rental housing project because their incomes exceed the maximum allowed under federal regulations. 'Council and the Chamber of Commerce said the evictions must be stayed because of the acute housing shortage in Connellsville. Thimons, 27, a Brackenridge nurse, won a verdict of $185,000 damages in a suit filed against the Pittsburgh Railways Co.

The award, one of the largest ever returned by a jury in Allegheny County, was granted for injuries suffered by Miss Thimons whe she was struck by a Sharpsburg trolley in 1947 a she alighted from an automobile. Doctors testified she will never walk again. She suffered a fractured back and severed spinal cord. She appeared in court in a Wheel chair. A graduate of Duq'uesne University, Miss Thimons has been lecturing from a wheel chair in the Jamison Memorial Hospital, New Castle.

The suit charged the railway company with negligence. Parents Are Held For Beating Their 3-year-old Girl Philadelphia, May three- year-old girl lay near death in a hospital today while her mother and step-fattier were held without bail on charges of beating her. Little Antoinette Ruggerio suffered severe body bruises and internal injuries in the alleged beating last Thursday. When her condition became critical yesterday, the hospital notified authorities and the couple was arrested. Police identified the couple as John Lamb, 34-year-old longshoreman, and his wife, Lillian, 26, whose first husband.

Victor Ruggerio, the child's father, was killed in an automobile accident last year.
