Golden Wedding MB. AND MBS. CLARENCE COBB Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cobb, 4531 Washington, were guests of honor at a golden wedding anniversary dinner given by their daughter and Mr.

and Mrs. John Coleman, of the Washington address. Attending the dinner held Feb. 11 at DiLeo's restaurant were 24 relatives and friends of the couple and their two grandchildren, and Karen Coleman. a i in Palmersville, Feb.

11, 1912, Cobb, 72, and his wife Lean, 70, moved to Kentucky then to Chicago's West Side in 1946. They have made their home at 4531 Washington for 12 years. Cobb, xvho was employed at Reliable Electric retired seven years ago. Mrs. Cobb also retired seven years ago as operator of the Coleman and Cobb Nursing home, 4533 Washington.

Since her retirement her daughter Mrs. Coleman has taken over operation of the home. St. Mel Comes To Aid Purse Thief Leaves Woman, 74, Destitute St. Vincent de Paul society of St.

Mel's church, Washington and Kildare, has come to the aid of a 74-year-old woman whose February Social Security check, her only means of support, was stolen in a purse snatching. Mrs. Mary a widow living' in a one-room apartment at 3935 Monroe, said, a teenage tioy knocked her to the ground in front of her home and made off with her purse, containing the $59 from the check she had just cashed. The local social security office, called by this newspaper, said they could reimburse her only il the check itself had been stolen. Both the Salvation Army -and department of public welfare said they could be of immediate help only il she could personally come into their offices, which she is not physically able to do.

WORKERS from the St. Vincent de Paul society, hearing of the case, immediately went, over to visit the woman, arranged for her to receive food supplies and said Monday that a worker from the Catholic Charities would be secured to help her make an appifi.ation for public Welfare. Her landlady, Mrs. C. Ju.

Lind, of the same address, said the February rent would be deferred. Even, without the burden of having her -monthly allowance stolen, Mrs. Shepp finds it difficult to get along on $59 a month, an amount spent by most people for one week's subsistance. "MY RENT is really $40 a month," she said, "but I've got one of the best landladies God ever created. She gives me back $8 each month.

I try to get along on what's left. Sometimes my landlady gives me breakfast and then I walk over to the dime store for my other meal. I don't have a kitchen in my apartment so I can't cook in." If she does, you will be the first to make a Heart Sunday contribution to the 1962 Heart fund campaign.

The beauty queen is Patricia Louise Quillen of North Aurora. She is the ninth Photoflash winner to be chosen Heart Sunday queen. As such, she will head a mystery caravan which will signal the start of a door 'to door appeal in over one million homes in Cook, Lake and DuPage counties. and Mrs. Carl Sawyer, 4933 Huron. Rifles Needed By Boy Scout Troop Scoutmaster James J. Barrick of troop 380 is teaching a group of Boy Scouts to use .22 calibre rifles. The troop meets every Friday night at Columbus Park and is sponsored by a group of parents.
