Her money ran out however, and sha went to work at a photographer's model. After the Scarlet O'Hara tests, she was signed by Warners, but proved such a wonderful still picture subject, the photographers monopolized all her time, and producers never got a good look at her. Released by Warner after six months, she obtained a small part in the outdoor story, "Beau Geste." Within a week Paramount placed her under a long-term contract. Brian Donlevy, who starred in "Beau Geste," is her fiance in "Canyon Passage." Other notables in the picture are Patricia Roc, Hoagy Carmichael, Ward Bond and Andr Devine. Jacques Tourneur directed the film, which was adopted from a story by Ernest Haycox.

Norris, following his release from the navy because of a back injury, went to Hollywood to become a screen actor. The better to meet some influential studio personage, he took a Job as a taxi driver. One. of his passengers was Francis Led- erer who, interested, introduced him to Director Wesley Ruggles.

Soon the public will be able to buy them. Mason would like to write, produce and star in his own films, but not direct them. He would prefer to find a director with ideas similar to his own and work together. He realizes that the scramble for studio space, and the results of the chaos of war would be a greater disadvantage to him than to the producers who own the studios. Perhaps that's why he is thinking of Hollywood.

As to the type of films he would like to produce, he has a liking for the more controversial of contemporary public fig-! ures. MOVIE TIME SCHEDULE Brooklyn albee "Without Reservations." no. 1:50. 4:45. 7 40.

Many stories have been published in newspapers saying thai James Mason will go to Hollywood tnd star in American films. The truth is that there are other considerations. He loves the sunshine, likes the Americans, and considers them efficient.

So the chances are that when he has completed "Odd Man Out" for Two Cities and "The Upturned Gliss." he will visit Hollywood, taking with him his novelist wife, Pamela Kel-lino.
