"There's something for everybody," says caretaker Bob Gress who maintains the 162-acre park and adjoining 4 Fairgrounds with five seasonal employees. It's a popular spot for family reunions, picnics, camping and many more activities. Later this month, the 4-H Fair comes around. The fairgrounds will be busy with carnival rides, produce and craft displays, and sheep, cattle and horse shows. There's an arena for horses and an other one big enough to hold demoli ion derbies.

The campground and park areas are busiest during weekends, especially holiday weekends. Gress says. "Some people set up campers on Wednesdays or Thursdays Just to be sure they get a spot for the weekend," he says. The park's newest lake Impounded a few years ago is popular with just about everybody, he says. Walkers enjoy strolling the paved pathway on the shore and fishermen like fishing from the pier and small boats. Rip rap around the piers and boat launch tends to disappear into the lake, though.
