Attorneys and witnesses for Vernon Horn, owner of the quarry leased to Materials, and the hearing board waited until 8:45 p.m. last Wednesday night for the hearing board solicitor to arrive.

The meeting was scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. but George Bush, hearing board solicitor, was delayed with a case in Warminster. The board members and township supervisors asked that the hearing be rescheduled for another date because of the time factor. Both felt that it was too late to begin the procedure and finish the case in one night. Bush had been delayed in Warminster where he was hearing the case of Warminster Police Chief Rowan Kelly, who was fired by the township for alleged misconduct.

The Blooming Glen versus Hilltown Township hearing began Aug. 24 and was to be continued Sept. 15. But, Charles Marshal, attorney for Horn, could not attend the Sept. 15 hearing.

The hearing board has now rescheduled the case to continue on Nov. 3. The session is open to the public. Bucks Budget Hearings Begin Bucks County apparently got off to a bad start in its first budget hearings yesterday. Spokesmen for the courthouse mail and stock rooms said it will cost about 50 percent more next year for their operations.

A budget of $123,500 was submitted by the mail room, up from this years $81,000. The cost of maintaining the stock room was set at $30,000. However, the water department asked for $108,000, a drop of $20,000 from this year. Officials said they could probably operate on less than the requested figure if some scheduled maintenance was delayed. With more than 60 department requests to be considered, officials agreed yesterdays review of two operations left little insight on the problem of cutting down requests.

If Bucks is unable to pare the requested $50 million, the county will face a substantial tax hike of between 7 and 15 mills. The countys budget this year was $40 million. Most observers feel some concessions may be made but that a substantial tax hike will not be averted because of deficit financing this year and other factors. by five" children: Catherine wife of Harry L.
