Lebanon Daily News, Thursday, August 1,1974 Jim Singer, Bill Mann and Mt. Gretna are names synonymous with campmeeti'ng in Lebanon County. If proof is needed, they have not had a Sunday night audience of less than 1,000 for the last three years. Friday night Dr. James Singer, pastor of Ascension Lutheran Church of Baltimore, returns to Mt.

Gretna for the first of four nights as speaker for the Bible Conference of the United Methodist Church. He joins Mann who is the song leader for the Conference through Aug. 9. Dr. Singer, born and reared in Manheim.

graduated from Gettysburg College and the Lutheran Seminary at Gettysburg. He served pastorates in Bloomsburg, Altoona. and Washington. D.C. prior to Ascension Church.

Delegate 4 Times Dr. Singer has been speaker for churches and church- related organizations throughout the eastern states from New England to Florida. He has served four times as a delegate to the biennial conventions of the Lutheran Church. Last night Dr. Henry Nichols spoke of Nicodemus' coming to Jesus Christ at night searching for answers.

Dr. Nichols said the answer in the 1960 's was "burn it up." in the 1970's is "cover it up." but the answer for a Christian is to "open up" the heart. He stated that men will never learn to love one another until there is a change on the inside. Offers Solos Bill Mann, who introduced the sermon by singing "He's Real." closed the service leading the congregation in the Tennis At PALMYRA A tennis clinic sponsored by the Palmyra Recreation Association is now in progress it was reported at an association board meeting Tuesday evening in the Municipal Center. Miss Donna Krivach, Palmyra High School girls tennis coach, is instructing the clinic that has now reached the mid-point.

About 100 people have registered for the program being held on the Northside courts. Classes are being held Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings and evenings and Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and evenings. Tonight, the swimming and diving teams will have their annual banquet in the Citizens Fire Hall. Yesterday and Friday the divisional and allstar diving meets are being held with seven Palmyra entrants in the competition. This year the divers won one of five meets while the swimmers were winless and will compete in Division of the Capital Area Swim League next year.

Membership in the community pool was listed at 597 families, 194 individuals and 28 pay-as-you-go. Attendance so far this season was 29,328. Pool manager Fred Goudy reported that some repair work is necessary to attach the recently installed sliding board more securely to the concrete.
