No intelligent man can read some of the speeehes made in the House or Representatives by leaders of the Republican parv, without seeing not only the objects which control that party at present but the object which gave birth to the organization.

The object is to get and keep control of the financial policy of the country, which policy is and has been, since 1S61, to foster the interests of the money power at the expense of the millions who are not blessed with large means. All its former talk about slavery, and its present talk about the war, and all its denunciations of the Southern people looked, and is looking, to the same end. Doesticks, in his curious rhythmical effusion called spoke the exact truth when he said that the Almighty Dollar was the cause of its hypocritical gush. In 185G and in 1SG0, and for years afterwards, the slave was held up for the sympathy of humanitarians to get their votes in favor of a party, whose soul and body were owned by the money the concentered money of the North. The leaders cared nothing for the negro and they care nothing for him now only as a voter to keep them in power All their present clamor for the laboring man is meant to deceive this class of our people into the support of a policy which drains them, in order to enrich the owners and controllers of this party.

All their denunciations of British influences are designed to engender hate, and thus secure power in order that overgrown wealth may become still more overgrown. All this is plain to any intelligent man who will read carefully the speeches to which we have referred. Rockingham Rocket. One evening, during the encampment might be devoted to an entertainment, at the Opera House in Wilmington, given by the State troops, in aid of our disabled veterans.
