Names of students earning places on the Millburn Middle School high honors and honor rolls for the second marking period of the 1990-91 school year were announced today by Nicholas J. Navarino, principal. To be placed on the honor roll a student must earn better than a average for the total of grades in academic subjects. High honor roll students have earned a average in academic subjects.

Society awards research grant to Dr. Parsonnet "Disease of the Prostate Early Detection Method," sponored by the health education department will be held during the year. There will also be health fairs including a Children's Health Fair, a Teddy Bear Clinic, a Heart Fair and a Women's Health Fair. Other special events will include a tour of the Neuroscience Center and an open house at the new pediatric unit. The hospital is also seeking anyone who was born at Overlook 85 years ago, or who were early patients.

Those persons will be honored at a special event. Plans also call for a photo montage of old Overlook Hospital photos to be placed in the hospital's main lobby. Anyone knowing the location of someone born at Overlook 85 years ago or who was one of the hospital's earliest patients is asked to call Overlook's department of public relations at 522-2096. A variety of special programs, seminars, open houses, tours, health fairs and social events will mark the 85th anniversary of Overlook Hospital through the year. The celebration's theme is: "Partners in Care: 85 Years at Overlook." Events will be held in various departments of the hospital.

Throughout the anniversary year, employees will be honored with special awards. The annual Volunteer Service Awards luncheon will honor the many hundreds of area residents who give of their time to the hospital. The medical staff's annual dinner-dance will highlight the 85th anniversary and the May quarterly meeting of the staff will feature a specially made video program. The medical staff will also honor a medical staff department each month. Four health seminars, "How To Talk to Someone With a Serious Illness," "Update on Lyme Disease," "Taking Care of Your Skin," and Dixon, Julianne Doto, Elizaoetn Fabian, John Fernandez, Laura Hildner, Dara Horn and Rowena Hudson; Also, Murad Hussain, Nahomi Ichino, Jeffrey Kaye, David Kiken, Kevin Larner, Amanda Lee Leviten, Scott Linsky, Jennifer Mautone, Edward McGrath, Daniel Nejat, Michael Richard, Rebecca Schaefer, Kevin Scher, Kelly Smolen and Sara Steinberg.

Dr. Julie Parsonnet, a township native who is now an assistant professor at Stanford University's School of Medicine, has received a 2-year, $60,000 grant from the Infectious Diseases Society of America. Dr. Parsonnet was selected by the society to receive the third annual Ortho Pharmaceutical Corporation Young Investigator Award in Infectious Diseases. The award will sup port future research into a possible association of gastrointestinal infection by the bacterium Helicobacter pylori, with the onset of gastric cancer.

The scholarship is for $2,500. "The 1990 program our first was highly successful," said Rae Marsico, chairman of the chapter's scholarship committee, "and in 1991 we expect to generate among New Jersey college students even more interest in the growing field of private water utilities." New Jersey college students attending school in the state are eligible to apply.
