Great America opens Six Flags Hurricane Harbor water park Six Flags Great America the Midwest's largest theme park just got bigger. In addition to roller coasters and other rides, Great America is now home to the biggest water park in the area. Six Flags Hurricane Harbor water park opened last week after seven months of intense construction. The extravagantly themed outdoor water park boasts hundreds of wild and wet water activities and it's free with Six Flags Great America theme park admission.

The park, located on what was the far west side of the parking lot, is constructed to simulate a Caribbean island. Island music, lush landscapes and colorful water slides provide the backdrop to this tropical retreat. On opening day, the water attractions were finished, but work was still in progress on the concessions buildings. They were expected to be done by this week. This spacious outdoor water park can comfortably hold up to 5,000 people, whether navigating through the twists and turns of the park's 25 water slides or cruising through the sprawling Castaway Creek adventure river.
