Borough of Manhattan, the City of New York. sl7-26t FRANK E. HOPKINS HONORED Past Master Doubly Surprised by Fellow Masons at Jamaica. Loving Cup From the "Fourth De gree' Team Watch From the Lodge as a Whole. FranK E.

Hopkins, past master, and at present organist of Jamaica Lodge, P. and A. No. 546. was treated to a double surprise on Wednesday night.

First the "Fourth Degree Team" presented him with a handsome silver loving cufr. Scarcely had he recovered from his first Burprise when another was shoved up to him in the shape of a beautiful gold watch. Mr. Hopkins was "completely flabbergasted," as he humorously expressed himself. After the meeting on Wednesday night.

E. P. Allyn of Wooilhaven approached Frank E. Hopkins. Mr.

Hopkins. Ho carried eonif thing under his arm that was covered with a bine velvet cloth. The other members KHthored around the two In circle. Mr. Hopkins began to suspect, then, that there was something iu the wind, but he had no idea that he was about to bj presented with a loving cup.

Mr. Allyn unlimbered his rhetoric, spoke of the lodge's appreciation of Mr. Hopkins' work in tht; past and then presented the cup. Under the name of the recipient, the name of the donor and the date of presentation are inscribed the following words, being a quotation from "Sir John Barleycorn:" "And it will cause ft man to drink till he neither can go nor stan'." Mr. Hopkins responded fittingly.

Then Mr. Allyn presented Mr. Hopkins with a watch as a token of regard and esteen; from the lodge. The presenteo was touched by this further evidence of an appreciative lodge'B loving regard, and it took him some little time to find suitable words to express his thanks. Mr.

Hopkins has been for twenty year? a resident of Jamaica. He was master of Jamaica Lodge in 1901 and 1902. He is at present organist. Recently a large mahogany organ was installed at a of $.1,000. Tt is said to be the largest, organ in any lodge on Long Island.

Mr. Hopkins was formerly organist In Grace I Episcopal Church, Jamaica, and he acts in that capacity at present In the First Presbyterian Church, having charge ther-r, also, of the choir. Mr. Hopkins is past, regent of Jamaica Counc il No. 433.

I 1 Competition Among the Others 13 Very Keen and Several Changes Have Occurred.

The excitement is tense in The Eagle's Grand Opera Ticket Contest, because tho race is getting closer every day and the candidates are showing greater determination to pile up their total votes. Nearly every one of the leaders now has 2,000 ballots or more, and at half that number is required to achieve a positior among the "next twenty-five." The struggle is becoming very exciting near the top of the list, though Frank E. White has a good lead and is making every effort to hold It. Mrs. E.

J. Bum), while Btill in second place, has a very persistent rival In Colin K. Urquhart and her advantage has been somewhat reduced- The competition for fourth place is likewise marked and a matter of 500 votes separates tho present occupant from the candidate In the seventh position. Yesterday, the supporters ot the Caledonian Hospital brought their influence to bear and put their favorite Institution back In fourth place, thus forcing Mrs. G.

L. Deverall into fifth place by a narrow margin of 17 votes. Margaret Thompson and Adele Harringlou are in the Immediate vicinity and are determined to put up the warmest kinit of bottle. Mrs. B.

B. Christ made a big Jump forward, capturing nine places and gaining the twenty-fourth position. Chester A. Avis advanced six places and is now fifty-first. The Sixty Leaders.
