He said they wanted to confirm that he has palsy, which is why his handwriting is so shaky. They want to verify everything, said Barnhill, who approved their review of his records. Police continue to release few details, including where detectives went to conduct their latest round of inter-' views. They are out of state.

Police are keeping the location a secret to protect their investigation, Boulder city spokeswoman Leslie Aaholm said. As soon as things become public, people cave, she said. The people say To hell with this. We dont want to get involved in a media circus. The case has attracted national attention, and wherever police and the Ramseys go, the media follow.

The most recent trip was to Georgia, where the Ramseys used to live and where some family members still live. DENVER John Ramsey returned to Boulder Tuesday from Georgia and immediately went into hiding with his wife, Patsy, and their 10-year-old son. The Ramseys whereabouts are being kept a secret because they have been stalked by the media since the murder of their daughter, 6-year-old JonBenet Ramsey, family spokesman Pat Korten said. They have no privacy wherever they go, Korten said. Ramsey and his attorneys have not decided whether he will provide a third handwriting sample to Boulder police, Korten said.

"It is under consideration, he said Tuesday. Boulder police obtained numerous handwriting samples from Ramsey family members and friends in an attempt to find the author of a ransom note that Patsy Ramsey found in the Ramsey home Dec. 26. The author claimed to have JonBenet and demanded $118,000. The little beauty queens body was found in basement of the Ramsey home several hours later.

It's not surprising, then, that the most'dammng and common complaint that an angry spouse may bmg to a marriage counselor is that the other is not responsible enough.

What the angry partner may not realize is that the irresponsibility is itself the other person's way of expressing anger. By the time most couples seek counseling, they are set in their roles. The counselor usually works toward helping. them identity the parts theyre playing. Its rare that only one spouse is at fault.

A professor of pathology at Wayne State University's Medical School in Michigan, Spitz couldnt be reached for comment.

Spitz has testified in dozens of high-profile cases across the country about the causes of violent deaths. He reviewed the assassination of President Kennedy for the House Assassinations Committee, and has testified in several serial murder cases in Los Angeles and New York. Spitz also reviewed the death of Mary Jo Kopechne, who drowned in 1969 after a car driven by Sett. Edward Kennedy plunged off a bridge at Chap-paquiddick Island. By THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS DENVER Defense attorneys for Jorg Peter Schmitz have hired one of the nations top pathologists to help convince a jury Schmitz wasnt driving the car that killed Rocky Mountain News columnist Greg Lopez.

Dr. Werner Spitz, who testified for the Goldman family in O.J. Simpsons civil trial, will be a defense witness when Schmitz goes on trial for vehicular homicide next month. Hes a world-renowned pathologist, said Schmitzs attorney, Walter Gerash. The key issue at the trial will be whether Schmitz or Spicer Breeden was driving the speeding BMW that clipped Lopezs Toyota 4Runner, sending it into a fatal rollover last March 17 on Interstate 25.

The car belonged to Breeden, whom police first believed was driving. But Breeden killed himself two days after the accident and left a suicide note implicating Schmitz. Spitz is expected to testify that bruises on Breedens body indicate he was driving the car. Coincidentally, Spitz also is endorsed as a witness for the prosecution in next months Denver District Court death penalty case against Jon Morris, accused in the rape and murder of a 5-year-old girl. And layoffs were in the cards. Employees were notified by memorandum last Wednesday, the same day Sarah Ferguson, ex-wife of Britains Prince Andrew, was here as part of a six-city publicity tour.

Elaine Miles, a Denver Weight Watchers manager, confirmed Tuesday the international weight-loss organization is shedding its Rocky Mountain regional headquarters here in April. Miles said falling Weight Watchers membership forced the layoffs. She said the reported $1 million contract Ferguson signed in December to promote Weight Watchers had no bearing on the companys decision to downsize. It was strictly a coincidence that Fergie happened to be here that same week, Miles said. The company has done some consolidation over the last several years and thats all were really doing at this time This is simply an administrative move to simplify and eliminate duplication.

Miles said the cuts are expected to affect about a dozen Denver employees and an equal number of people at a satellite office in Minneapolis. Miles said there are no plans to close any of 240 Weight Watchers dieting centers in the region. $Q99 $Q99 $099 $10" $10" $16" 99 11 1.75 HUNTER, WINDSOR $H99 V.O.
