10, 1987 Kenneth Otto Brutsche of 1535 Hood died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Saturday at his home. He was 75. Mr. Brutsche was a retired custodian for Mesa County Valley School District 51. He was born May 7, 1911, at Rifle to Otto B.

and Minnie Fritchlie Brutsche. He spent his childhood in Glenwood Springs and graduated from high school in Garfield County. Mr. Brutsche married June Lucille Kruckenberg on May 1, 1949, at Yuma, Ariz. She survives.

The couple lived Grand Junction then moved to California where they lived from 1949 to 1960. They returned to Grand Junction in 1960 and have resided here since. Mr. Brutsche enjoyed auto mechanics, fishing and boating. He was a member of The Way International Biblical Research group.

Mr. Brutsche was a past member of the Masons. Other survivors include two daughters, Joyce D. Roybal of Grand Junction and Beverly A. Fults of Fort Huachuca, two stepdaughters, Mary A.

Brown of Hayfork, and Betty J. Norton of Milton Freewater, a stepson, Frank K. Brandon of Palo Cedro, four grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Rosebud Cemetery in Glenwood Springs.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung and Heart Association, in care of Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, Box 546, Grand Junction 81502, which is in charge of arrangements. The couple moved to De Beque in 1930 and to the Grand Junction area in 1946 They moved to Montrose in 1971 Mr. Thaute enjoyed camping and fishing. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Montrose. Other survivors include two daughters.

Ora Mae Franklin of Grand Junction and Norma Berry of Westminster, three sons. Harold of Loveland, Keith A. of Grand Junction and Robert of Montrose. 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters are deceased.

Graveside services were scheduled for 1 pm today at Valley Lawns Cemetery in Montrose with Ronny Hanna officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the San Juan Living Center, 1043 Ridge. Montrose 81401. Montrose Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Jean A.

Willford Sept 19. 194.4 Jan 8, 1987 Jean A Willford of Montrose died Thursday of leukemia at St Mary's Hospital and Medical Center. She was 53. Mrs Willford had been a computer operator prior to her illness. She was born Sept 19, 1933, at Aurora, 111.

She married Clinton L. Willford on June 13, 1954. at Sugar Grove, 111. He survives. The couple had lived in Walden, 111., prior to moving to Montrose in 1958.

Mrs. Willford enjoyed camping, hiking, knitting, reading and her home and family. She was a member of the Montrose Christian Church and several Bible study groups. Other survivors include her father, William A. Johnson of Aurora, a daughter, Leslie Marie Lechleiter of Montrose; a brother, Richard Johnson of Yorkville, two sisters, Dorothy Bordeau of Anaheim, and Peggy Scott of Aurora, and two grandchildren.

Her mother, Marie Laycock Johnson, died in 1978. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Montrose Christian Church with Ronny Hanna officiating. Burial will be a Grand View Cemetery in Montrose. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Fund, 733 Third New York, N.Y..

10017. Montrose Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Hoffs life. He coached football, baseball, wrestling and basketball and was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. He pitched the first game for both the Grand Junction Eagles semipro and the Mesa College baseball teams, according to family records.

He was a quarterback on the Mesa football team and won the Creger Westley Memorial Trophy as the schools outstanding athlete for 1948 and 1949. As a coach, he took the Rangely High School football team to the state championship in 1966. He was The Denver Posts Northwestern League Coach of the Year in 1966. Mr. Hoff was a 34-year member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and was last a member of the Glenwood Springs lodge.

He also was a member of the Masons. Other survivors include two daughters, Ellen Fox and Tammy Schler, both of Grand Junction; a son, Colin of Glenwood Springs; a stepdaughter, Staci McClintock of Silt; a stepson, Tracy McClintock of Silt; a brother, Harold of McCook; and four sisters, Marie Gunton of California, Lydia Rowland, Lillian Best and Pauline Beaird, all of McCook. His parents, Henry and Catherine Sack Hoff, and five brothers, George, John, Ben, Jake and Henry, are deceased. Memorial contributions may be made to the Respiratory Care Department, Valley View Hospital, Glenwood Springs 81601. Sowder Funeral Home of Rifle is handling arrangements.

Walter Babey July 22, 1915 Jan. 10, 1987 Walter Babey of Montrose died Saturday at Montrose Memorial Hospital. He was 71. Mr. Babey was the former owner and operator of the Dairy Twist and Walleys Drive-In.

He was born July 22, 1915, at Plains, to Michael and Anna Dubinsky Babey. He spent his childhood and attended schools in Pennsylvania. Mr. Babey had served 13 years with the U.S. Army, Air Force and the National Guard.

He married Pauline Y. Pigeon Aug. 7, 1954, at Wilkes-Barre, Penn. Mrs. Babey, a registered nurse in Montrose, survives.

They moved from Allentown, to Montrose 23 years ago. Mr. Babey enjoyed mechanics, carpentry and electrical work. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church.

Other survivors include three daughters, Anne Olsen of Jonesboro, Capt. Cathryn Knopf, serving with the U.S. Air Force in Ranstein, Germany, and Sheila Hanna of Denver; a son, Donald of Denver; two brothers, Peter of Durango and John of Cranford, N.J.; and three sisters, Mary Frazier of Montrose, Irene Barrouk of Moun tain Top, Penn and Lucy Topping of North Kingstown, R.I. A Mass of Christian Burial wilL be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St.

Marys Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Kennedy officiating. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Grand View Cemetery in Montrose.

Montrose Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Howard G. Mencimer Sept 16, 1908 Jn 9. 198 Howard G. Mencimer of Montrose died Friday at his home after a lengthy illness.

He was 78 Mr. Mencimer, who was retired, had been self-employed in processing sand blasting materials. He was born Sept. 16, 1908, to Edward C. and Rose Peterson Mencimer at Henderson, where he attended schools.

He married Letta L. Lyon Jan. 7, 1932, at Harrisburg, Neb. She survives. The couple moved from Denver to California, where they remained for four years before returning to Denver.

After years in the Denver area, they movefd to Montrose in 1982. Mr. Mencimer enjoyed his family, wildlife, church and maintenance of machinery. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Montrose. Other survivors include a daughter, Marlene Sprenkel ofMontrose; a son, Larry E.

of San Jose, Calif; a brother, Myron of Denver; and seven grandchildren. A son, James, two brothers and a sister are deceased. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Montrose Valley Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. James Boulware officiating.

Burial will be at Valley Lawns Cemetery in Montrose. Tommie Martinez March 7, 19o5 Jan 9, 19tf Tommie Tomas" Martinez of 460 Hill died of a cerebral hemorrhage Friday at Community Hospital. He was41. Mr. Martinez, a life-long resident of Grand Junction, had been a cook for Casa Tijuana at the Ramada Inn, The Aeroplane Restaurant at Walker Field, G.B.

Gladstone's and Los Amigos Restaurant. He was born March 7, 1945, at Grand Junction to Manuel and Patsy Lovato Martinez. He graduated from Grand Junction High School. Mr. Martinez enjoyed music, picnics and gatherings with family and friends.

He was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church Survivors include live brothers. Tony, Ernie. Gilbert. Johnny and Manuel, all of Grand Junction, a half-brother, Albert Herrera of Sheridan.

Burial will be at Orchard Mesa Cemetery. L. Conway Nowlan (Vt 1901 J.in 10, L. Conway Nowlan of 1220 Main St. died Saturday at his home.

He was 85. Mr Nowlan, who lived in Grand Junction for 60 years, was a retired real estate agent. He was born Oct. 3, 1901. in Oklahoma Territory.

He spent his childhood in South Dakota and Kansas and graduated from high school in Sterling, Kan. He also attended Sterling College, earning a degree in education. He married Marie L. Johns on June 8, 1930, in Grand Junction. She survives.

Mr. Nowlan was one of the founders of the Western Colorado Center for the Arts. He enjoyed painting different aspects of this area, with a focus on its southwestern characteristics. He also enjoyed music, especially Irish. Mr.

Nowlan was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Grand Junction. He was a past president of the Grand Junction Board of Realtors and had been a member of the Kiwanas Club and the Masonic Lodge No. 55 Other survivors include a daughter, Janis Colleen Nowlan of Denver; and a son, Dennis R. of San Diego. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m.

Harold T. Thaute Dec. 41, 10, 198" Harold T. Thaute of Montrose died Saturday at the San Juan Living Center after a lengthy illness. He was 90.

Mr. Thaute was a retired farmer He was born Dec. 31, 1896, to Anthony and Rebecca Mock Thaute at Denver, where he attended schools. He married Eunice May Culver Jan. 15, 1919, at Byers She survives.

Memorial services for Harry Hoff of Silt, a Western Slope school teacher and coach for 27 years, will be at 11 am. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in New Castle. Charles M. Jones will officiate. Interment will be at 2 p.m.

Tuesday at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grand Junction with the Rev. Larry Haddock officiating. Cremation will precede interment. Mr. Hoff, 59, died of a lengthy illness Friday at Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs.

He was born Jan. 21, 1927, at McCook, where he attended area schools. Mr. Hoff enlisted in the S. Army during World War II and served in Germany and France.

In 1948, he moved to Grand Junction and attended Mesa College, where he graduated with an associate degree. He then attended Western State College in Gunnison, graduating with a bachelors degree in 1951. He served as student body president his senior year. He later earned a masters degree in school administration from Western State. Mr.

Hoff initially taught school in Hotchkiss, then moved to Rangely, where he taught and coached until he retired in 1979. Upon retirement, he moved to New Castle, where he lived until he moved to Silt three years ago. He married Patty Jean McClin-tock on June 17, 1979, in Grand Junction. She survives. Sports were a great part of Mr.
