Sella came back from a 4-5 deficit in the third set to go ahead 6- 5, but then, with the 12th game score even at 3-3, hit the tape with a backhand shot to force the tiebreaker. USL's Cathy O'Donovan put on a fine comeback of her own, only to watch it fail short against Madeleine Sanchez at No. 3 singles. Trailing 5-0 in the third set, O'Donovan ran off the next six games and had her serve to clinch the match. But Sanchez broke her to force the tiebreaker, which she won 7-5 after trailing 5-3.

Lisa Hellinger picked up a third three-set win for Tulane at No. 6 singles, where she bested Shanda Smith 6-7 (3-7), 7-5, 6-3 to put Tulane third point on the board.
