It is estimated that there are 50,000 miners employed in' the Pittsburg district, and the operators who met last night claim that they employ about one-half that number. It was generally believed that when the independent operators met they would agree to sign the 1903 wage scale on account of the Pittsburg Coal company and its subsidiary concerns agreeing to that scale.
