Binsacra received a set of luggage from the faculty. The set was presented by Carl Hanson, printing teacher.

Itinsarra said he was going to miss the teachers, adding: "I never thought I'd reach this point. I thought I'd teach forever, and never grow old, but here I am." VITAL STATISTICS Last night a moving tribute was paid Lee T. Sims and Sain Binsacca, retiring principal and vice principal, respectively, of the Santa Cruz high school.

One hundred and ten persons, including nearly all of the 70 teachers and other classified employes of the high school, met at the Santa Maria del Mar hotel for a dinner and both light and serious eulogies. Master of Ceremonies Jack Snyder, student counselor and commercial teacher, opened the program by acknowledging that the heavy turnout was in itself a tribute to the two men. Sims, who retires July 1, has been principal for 15 years. A master sergeant during World War he graduated from Oregon State college and attended the University of California. After many years of teaching he was appointed superintendent of the Clarksburg school district near Sacramento from 1929 to 1942.

After a year at Rio Vista as superintendent he came to Santa Cruz. Norman Walters, music supervisor, praised Sims for his serenity on the job, especially in carrying out some of the school board's actions. Sims was presented with a wrist watch by James Burt, chief counselor. "I'm not going to try to express what I feel," said Sims. "The finest memory I have of my years here will be the loyalty and cooperation of the faculty.

"Many times I'm asked what I will do in my retirement. I think I'll do like 'Skinny' Wain-right (retired army general) who said he was going to spend the first two years sitting on his rocking chair. After that maybe I'll roik a little." Vive Principal Binsacca came Margery G. H. White From the Reader's Digest, that monthly compendium of good thought-fodder, comes this gem of philosophy an authentic essay by a 12-year-old Alabama school gin. True Greatness she writes a person can never get by trying for it.

It is nice to have good clothes. It makes it a lot easier to act decent, but it is a sign of True Greatness to act, when have not got them, just as good as if had. Once there was a woman who had done a big washing and hung it on the line. The line broke and let it down in the mud, but she didn't say a word, only did it over again and this time she spread it on the grass where it could not fall. But that night a dog with dirty feet ran over it.

When she saw what was done, she didn't cry a bit. All she said was: "Ain't it queer? He didn't miss nothin'." That was True Greatness, but it is only people who have done washings that know it. Next week Mr. White of White's Mortuary will comment on another Interesting subject. YSTEM BIRTHS Santa Crua Hospital DISHNER In Santa Cruz.
