The Moose scored SPORTS CALENDAR straight, all complete games, with a 3.00 earned run average and 4-0 against the slugging San Francisco Giants after he chopped them down again Tuesday night 2-1.

It was Newcombe's seventh victory of the season, matching his total for last year when he lost 13. This one slipped the Giants two games behind the National league leading Milwaukee Braves who eame off with the game because of the time limit. Newk, who hasn't lost since he dropped his fourth May 10, stretched the Giants slump to three games with a six-hitter, walking none and striking out three. The sixth-place Reds didn't give him a lead until they roughed up Mike McCormick for both runs in the eighth inning on Vada Pinson's 11th homer, a single by Frank Robinson and a double by Frank Thomas.

The Giants scored in the third on Hobie Landrith's double, a sacrifice and Jim Davenport's sacrifice fly. It's the only run Newk has allowed In 18 innings. Sure, Newk had won 27 in 1956, but he was washed up, hadn't been able to win 20 over two seasons since. So who's the ace of the Reds staff? 2 ranking player, Roy Emerson, today in the third round of the London Lawn Tennis Championships. The score was 6-4, 3-6, 7-5. It was the biggest upset of the tournament. Emerson is one of Australia's Davis Cup hopes and is seeded eighth at Wimbledon next week. Dogged retrieving tactics by Frost unnerved Emerson in the second set.

The 24-year-old Cali-fornian chased every ball and forced the Australian into costly errors. Challenger Unimpressive By Jack Hand AP Sports Writer Grossinger, N. Y. UP). To put it mildly, Ingemar Johansson was not impressive.

Perhaps it was an off-day for the unbeaten Swede. Perhaps he was holding back for fear of giving away any secrets. Whatever it was, it left many boxing writers cold. Johansson, in the home stretch of his training for the June 25 title match with Heavyweight Champion Floyd Patterson at Yankee Stadium, showed little fire in his work Tuesday. After spearing Bill Johnson with some stinging left jabs, he confined himself to trying to block punches.

Some he didn't block, especially when Clarence Floyd, a New York light heavyweight crowded him. Johansson said candidly after it was over: "Four good days and then this the fifth. And with all the boxing writers and Jack Dempsey watching. I was not so fast. It was one of those days." The European heavyweight champ used his right sparingly as he has done in all his workouts.

Still, they insist the right is a big punch the punch that knocked Eddie Machen cut in one round. A slugger devoting all his time to a jab is something like Mickey Mantle spending an entire spring training practicing bunts. 7i i DR. LINDNER Phone Lindner f. Overhaul first after two singles.

Akins is 7-5 favorite to stop the speedy Rodriguez in their na tionally-televised 10-round fight in Miami Beach exhibition hall. Akins boasts a 49-22-1 record and claims he had a letdown after winning the title from Miami Beach Vince Martinez last June. He lost the crown to Don Jordan and failed to regain it in a return bout. Rodriguez scored seven knock outs in 21 fights, including a no-decision contest.
