SNYDER CO. ISO Rctolflo Avenue THIS A GARDEN SPOT S. V. OilPimin, one of the director of the Chainlber of Commerce, has hii eye for beauty and Ideas as well, lie has suggested that the Chamber secure a large supply of flower seeds for free distribution, and that citizens get busy and see that, these seeds are planted everywhere all over town, in every vacant lot. In every little nook and corner that would be Improved by blooming flowers, and that all hands join in making this city a veritable flower garden from one end to the other.

Flower seeds, suggested were sweet peas, nasturtium, and marigolds. Secretary Mclsaac is to write to the wholesale seed houses to ascertain the best prices he can secure for large amounts. San Jose recently took a similar step, and if memory does not fall us the 'Morse Seed Co. made a proposition to furnish the seed free to nil those who would get in and make good use of It. Of course this Is a San Jose firm and It would be Just like them to make such a proposition, but Santa Cruz would naturally he expected to pay for her seed.

At that it Is believed an exceptionally low figure may be quoted to the local Chamber of Commerce, If you aro suffering from blllousnem, constipation, Indignation, chronic heflii-ache, Invest one cent In poptnl curd, send to ChambTlnln Medicine l)es MoIiim, lown. with your nnni nnd 1- dress plainly on the buck, and they will forward yon ft free mimnle of Chiunlier-laln'i Stomach and Mver Tablet. HER STUDIO OF CONCRETE. Miss Harriet S. Phillips, a well-known New York artist, has recently built an attractive studio of concrete 'blocks or the Bhores of Lake George, one of New York State's famous summer resorts. The structure is to be used as a residence and as a studio where the owner's valuable paintings may be kept without danger of loss by fire, All outside walls and Inside bearing walls of the (building are constructed of concrete 'blocks, and the most unique feature of the building Is produced In the molding or these Forest leaves are placed in the molds and the concrete poured In, thus leaving the imprint of the leaves on the finished block, The floors, all or which are concrete, are first laid with light timbers Just ns in the case or ordinary wooden" floors, and between these timbers are cut wooden strips. This construction forms a trough between every two timbers and Into the troughs thus formed is poured concrete until it Is three Inches above the top of the beams.

This, having been properly reinforced with steel rods, makes a solid floor or concrete, which Is finished In cement. All windows are casement windows, all lintels, sills, string courses and coping are of cast concrete, and all porches are or con crete on earth fill. The roof, another very unique fea-ture or the building, Is In reality an open air floor. The construction or the roof Is similar to that of the floors, except that the concrete Is covered with tar and felt. This forms a foundation for inlaid slate, laid In small squares, and this Tortus a surface that will not crack or break.

On the roof, or open air floor, the owner has her out-of-door studio. Here can be arranged, more easily than In the In-door studio, any out-of-door scenes which the artist may wish to depict. On this floor, also, nre a pergola and an open-air sleeping apartment. Over the pergola, vines may lie trained to grow, which will keep out the heat of the sun, thus giving the owner practically a comfortable garden, while the parapet walls are high enough to Insure the same pri- vncy that Is assured Inside the body of the house.
